We describe immanants as trivial modules of the symmetric group and show that any homogeneous polynomial of degree n on the space of n by n matrices preserved up to scalar by left and right action by diagonal matrices and conjugation by permutation matrices is a linear combination of immanants.

A Quantization of a theorem of Goulden and Jackson [PDF]
A theorem of Goulden and Jackson which gives interesting formulae for character immanants also implies MacMahon's Master Theorem. We quantize Goulden and Jackson's theorem to give formulae for quantum character immanants in such a way as to obtain a ...

A preorder-free construction of the Kazhdan-Lusztig representations of $S_n$, with connections to the Clausen representations [PDF]
We use the polynomial ring $\mathbb{C}[x_{1,1},\ldots,x_{n,n}]$ to modify the Kazhdan-Lusztig construction of irreducible $S_n$-modules. This modified construction produces exactly the same matrices as the original construction in [$\textit{Invent. Math}$

Path tableaux and combinatorial interpretations of immanants for class functions on $S_n$ [PDF]
Let $χ ^λ$ be the irreducible $S_n$-character corresponding to the partition $λ$ of $n$, equivalently, the preimage of the Schur function $s_λ$ under the Frobenius characteristic map.

Generalized Multiphoton Quantum Interference
Nonclassical interference of photons lies at the heart of optical quantum information processing. Here, we exploit tunable distinguishability to reveal the full spectrum of multiphoton nonclassical interference.

Immanant preserving and immanant converting maps
An immanant, associated to an irreducible complex character \(\chi\) of symmetric group \(S_n\), is a function \(d_\chi:M_n({\mathbb F})\to {\mathbb F}\), defined by \[ d_\chi(A):=\sum_{\sigma\in S_n}\chi(\sigma)\prod^n_{i=1}a_{i\sigma(i)} \qquad\forall A=(a_{ij})\in M_n({\mathbb F}).

Immanence/Imminence. Thinking About Immanence and Individuation
The aim of this article is to compare the concept of Immanence, or rather, the definition of “plane of Immanence” as described and invented by Deleuze (and Deleuze and Guattari) with the concept of Individuation (in Simondon, but also within a long philosophical tradition from medieval philosophy to Leibniz, as discussed also by Deleuze, as it is well ...
