In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Metabolite Variations during the First Weeks of Growth of Immature Citrus sinensis and Citrus reticulata by Untargeted Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry Metabolomics

open access: yesMolecules
Immature citruses are an important resource for the pharmaceutical industry due to their high levels of metabolites with health benefits. In this study, we used untargeted liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics to investigate the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A taste for fruit: first record of Rekoa marius (Lucas, 1857) (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae: Eumaeini) on Averrhoa carambola L. (Oxalidales: Oxalidaceae)

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Entomología
Information on the natural history of Rekoa marius (Lucas, 1857) is presented through the first record of the species on Averrhoa carambola L. The larvae of this lepidopteran were collected on A. carambola and reared under laboratory conditions.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Low Concentrations of Sulfoxaflor Do Not Adversely Affect mRNA Levels in Various Testicular Cells When Administered to Either Mature or Immature Mice

open access: yesJournal of Xenobiotics
Sulfoxaflor, an insecticide, acts on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It has a functional group similar to that of neonicotinoid insecticides, which are testicular toxicants. Recently, the adverse effects of sulfoxaflor on the testes have been reported
