Osteoblastoma in the Skeletally Immature

Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 2008
Osteoblastoma is a rare benign and sometimes locally aggressive tumor with peak incidence in the second decade. Adenosine in the Immature Kidney

Developmental Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1989
Intrarenal adenosine could be a physiological regulator of glomerular filtration rate and renal blood flow, acting on the renal arteriolar tone. Recent experimental evidence strongly suggests an important role for intrarenal adenosine in the hemodynamic renal changes observed in ischemic acute renal failure (ARF), as well as in various other ...

Injury to the Immature Carpus

Hand Clinics, 1988
Traumatic injury to the immature carpus is infrequent because of the sequence of carpal ossification, the resiliency of surrounding ligaments, and the vulnerability of the radius to fracture. Diagnosis requires careful palpation and suspicion, particularly in younger children. Treatment should consider the healing, growth, and modeling potential of the

Giant immature teratoma

The Spine Journal, 2015
We managed a case of a spinal immature teratoma in a 3-year-old child. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an expansive mass in the sacrococcygeal and lumbar regions (Figs. 1 and 2). The mass was hyperintense on T2-weighted (T2W) and hyperintense–hypointense on T1-weighted (T1W) images (Figs. 1 and 2).

Epileptogenesis and the Immature Brain

Epilepsia, 1987
Summary: Epidemiological studies indicate that the incidence of seizures is highest early in life. This report discusses the experimental data derived from studies of focal epileptogenesis of the immature brain in tandem with ongoing maturational changes. During development, neurons have characteristic neurophysiological properties.

Immature teratoma of the ovary

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1989
Twenty-five cases of patients with pure immature teratoma of the ovary, accrued from the Connecticut Tumor Registry from 1969 to 1984, were reviewed. Two patients had grade 1 tumors, twelve had grade 2 tumors, and eleven had grade 3 tumors. The majority of patients (23) were stage I at the time of initial surgery.

Immature teratoma of the ovary

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1983
Four cases of immature teratoma of the ovary are presented and the recent literature is reviewed. The majority of these tumors were confined to one ovary at the time of diagnosis, and more than 75% occurred in women under 25 years of age. The two most important prognostic parameters were stage of disease and histologic grade.

Veterinary Record, 2006
SIR, – Pregnancy in immature heifers and the resultant dystocia due to relative maternal undersize has been, and continues to be, a welfare problem in some beef suckler herds. Historically, this has resulted from either herds with a voluntary extended breeding season, failure to castrate ...

Barriers in the Immature Brain

Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, 2000
1. The term "blood-brain barrier" describes a range of mechanisms that control the exchange of molecules between the internal environment of the brain and the rest of the body. 2. The underlying morphological feature of these barriers is the presence of tight junctions which are present between cerebral endothelial cells and between choroid plexus ...

Race, prematurity and immaturity

Early Human Development, 2007
Compared to white Europeans, Blacks and South Asians have a significantly shorter mean gestational length and a higher incidence of preterm birth. For any given gestational age before 37 weeks, Black and South Asian babies have less risk of respiratory distress syndrome, and the survival rate in Black babies is higher than white Europeans.
