Immersed Boundary Method Using Ghost Cells in a Three-Dimensional Case

open access: yesСовременные информационные технологии и IT-образование, 2020
When solving numerically gas dynamics problems, one often encounters difficulties in processing regions with complex geometry. Generating consistent computational grids for such areas may be a complex task.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

An Immersed Interface Method for the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations in Irregular Domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present an immersed interface method for the incompressible Navier Stokes equations capable of handling rigid immersed boundaries. The immersed boundary is represented by a set of Lagrangian control points.

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Extension of the unified interpolation stencil for immersed boundary method for moving boundary problems

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2018
As an extension of the immersed boundary method with unified interpolation stencil (Kor, Badri Ghomizad, and Fukagata, J. Fluid Sci. Technol., Vol. 12, 2017, JFST0011), we propose an immersed boundary method that can handle moving boundary problems with ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Sharp interface immersed boundary method for simulating three-dimensional swimming fish

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2020
A second order finite-difference numerical method is used to solve the Navier–Stokes equations of incompressible flow, in which the solid body with complex geometry is immersed into the fluid domain with orthogonal Cartesian meshes.
