Boundary dihedral angle criterion for finite volume decomposition in immersed boundary methods

An Immersed Boundary Method for flows with evaporating droplets
Abstract We present a new Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) for the interface resolved simulation of spherical droplet evaporation in gas flow. The method is based on the direct numerical simulation of the coupled momentum, energy and species transport in the gas phase, while the exchange of these quantities with the liquid phase is handled through ...

A gradient M/MOx (M = Sn, Cu, Cd) synergistic interphase was constructed on Al via a one‐step displacement reaction. This interphase leverages high aluminophilicity and ion‐buffering capability to accelerate desolvation, enhance Al3+ transport, and suppress side reactions, enabling ultrastable symmetric cell operation at 0.05 mA cm−2 for 1800 h with an

Single‐crystal gold microplates are high‐performance nanomaterials with an impressive wafer‐based application space. Progress has, however, been tempered by an inability to exert synthetic control over microplate size, shape, and positioning. In this work, control over these parameters is demonstrated using a seed‐mediated synthesis that both confines ...

Magnetic‐field‐assisted CVD of heterometallic single‐source precursors modulates thin‐film surface electronic structure and interfacial charge transfer. Field‐grown (Cobalt ferrite‐1T)CF‐1T films exhibit stabilized electronic states, lower kinetic barriers, and markedly enhanced nitrate‐to‐ammonia electrocatalysis versus (Cobalt ferrite‐0T) CF‐0T ...

Implicit immersed boundary method for fluid-structure interaction
International audienceA novel immersed boundary method is introduced for simulating the fluid-structure interaction problem. Unlike the body-conforming mesh method which imposes the no-slip boundary conditions directly on the immersed interface, the ...

An Immersed Boundary Method for Polymeric Continuous Mixing
We introduce a new implementation of the Immersed Boundary method in the finite-volume library OpenFOAM. The implementation is tailored to the simulation of temperature-dependent non-Newtonian polymeric flows in complex moving geometries, such as those characterizing the most popular polymeric mixing technologies.

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

An unfitted Nitsche method for incompressible fluid-structure interaction using overlapping meshes
We consider the extension of the Nitsche method to the case of fluid–structure interaction problems on unfitted meshes. We give a stability analysis for the space semi-discretized problem and show how this estimate may be used to derive optimal error ...
