Immersions of space-time

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1969
It is shown that space-time can be regarded as a 4-dimensional subspace of a conformally flat, 6-dimensional space, or of a flat, 8-dimensional space. The group of isometries of the tangent spaces of the 6-dimensional space is O(4, 2), which has recently been used to describe elementary particles.

Toward Real-Time Delivery of Immersive Sports Content

IEEE MultiMedia, 2018
Free viewpoint technology makes it possible to view video of sports content from any angle or position, but creating such content is currently a time-consuming process that can prevent real-time delivery. To address this problem, the authors present an application framework that implements semi-automatic camera calibration, object extraction, object ...

Real-time pointing gesture recognition for an immersive environment

Sixth IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition, 2004. Proceedings., 2004
We present an algorithm for the real-time detection and interpretation of pointing gestures, performed with one or both arms. The pointing gestures are used as an intuitive tracking interface for a user interacting with an immersive virtual environment.

Real-Time 3D Rendering and Immersion

2018
People’s perception and experience of landscape plays a critical role in the social construction of these spaces—in how individuals and societies understand, value, and use landscapes. Perception and experience should, therefore, be an integral part of environmental modeling and geodesign. With the natural interaction afforded by Tangible Landscape and

Real-time gait control for partially immersed bipeds

Proceedings of the 8th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference on Motion in Games, 2015
Physics-based animation is an increasingly studied subject of computer animation because it allows natural interactions with the virtual environment. Though some existing motion controllers can handle the simulation of interactions between a character and a liquid, only few methods focus on the simulation of the locomotion of immersed bipeds.

Real-time 3D body reconstruction for immersive TV

2016 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2016
In this work, a novel and fast algorithm for real-time 3D body reconstruction from stereo sequences is proposed. The main contributions of this work consist of a novel approach for a statistically guided stereo processing and a data parallel iteration scheme for 3D estimation that includes temporal predecessors from a local spatial neighborhood.

Losing Time and Space: Experiencing Immersion

2016
The sense of immersion—the feeling of losing track of time and space—is something all of us have experienced. Whether it is through a film, an interactive game, or hiking in a landscape, these immersive experiences have been sought after since the beginning of humankind to open our minds to new possibilities and expand perceptions of our world.

ICT Pandemic Time Adoption and Immersive Technologies

2022
It was not until recently that we could imagine immersive technology's popularity would be raised and adaptability would reshape almost all businesses in the tourism landscape. Immersive technology has been a transition phenomenon from a traditional marketing strategy to a postmodern approach that encourages, motivates, and satisfies the potential ...
