A study on factors affecting the degradation of magnesium and a magnesium-yttrium alloy for biomedical applications. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Controlling degradation of magnesium or its alloys in physiological saline solutions is essential for their potential applications in clinically viable implants. Rapid degradation of magnesium-based materials reduces the mechanical properties of implants

Temporary Immersion Culture: A Potential In Vitro Culture Method for the Clonal Propagation of Coconut

open access: yesHorticulturae
As one of the most important members of the palm family, coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) currently faces a substantial gap between demand and production. Current plantings of this crop are aging, and these traditional varieties are susceptible to several ...

Mapped Null Hypersurfaces and Legendrian Maps

open access: yes, 2007
For an $(m+1)$-dimensional space-time $(X^{m+1}, g),$ define a mapped null hypersurface to be a smooth map $\nu:N^{m}\to X^{m+1}$ (that is not necessarily an immersion) such that there exists a smooth field of null lines along $\nu$ that are both tangent

Immersion corrosion of material extrusion steel 316 L: Influence of immersion time and surface roughness

open access: yesMaterials Today Communications, 2023
This work investigates the influence of surface roughness on the immersion corrosion of Steel 316 L fabricated via the material extrusion (ME) additive manufacturing (AM) method. For that purpose, a metal-polymer filament was used to produce ME specimens via fused filament fabrication.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

What is the topology of a Schwarzschild black hole?

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the topology of Schwarzschild's black hole through the immersion of this space-time in spaces of higher dimension. Through the immersions of Kasner and Fronsdal we calculate the extension of the Schwarzschild's black hole.Comment: 7 pages.

Immersion of strongly Brownian filtrations with honest time avoiding stopping times

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática, 2017
In this paper, we give a partial answer to the following question: if $\mathbb{F}\hookrightarrow\mathbb{G}\hookrightarrow\mathbb{H}$ (where the symbol ($\hookrightarrow$) indicates the immersion property), $\mathbb{F}$ and $\mathbb{H}$ are two strongly Brownian filtrations, is $\mathbb{G}$ also a strongly Brownian filtration ?\\We prove that $\mathbb{G}
