Acidic pH Restricts Non‐Tuberculous Mycobacteria Replication

Different nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) species display unique replication profiles in acidic pH in vitro which correlates to their replication within human macrophages. Inhibition of the acidic environments within the macrophage enhances bacterial viability emphasising the role of acidic pH during NTM infections.

Therapeutic effect of NEO400, perillyl alcohol conjugated to linoleic acid, in a mouse model of UV‐induced skin damage

In the present work with mouse models, we demonstrate that a novel compound, NEO400, is able to profoundly protect skin against damage caused by UV radiation (UVR) when it is applied to skin post‐UVR exposure. In comparison, Aloe vera or linoleic acid are unable to achieve a similar level of protection.

ABSTRACT Disgust helps humans avoid potentially pathogenic substances such as bodily effluvia. This reduces illness risks and is difficult to overcome with cognitive strategies or through short‐term habituation (minutes to hours). Whether long‐term habituation (months to years) exists is an unsolved question.
