Peripheral nerve biopsies from patients with leprosy were stained with anti-Mycobacterium bovis (BCG) in a peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) system to demonstrate intraneural mycobacterial antigens. Most M. leprae antigens have been shown to cross-react with BCG.
