Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Collective Light Emission of a Finite Size Atomic Chain [PDF]

open access: yesEPL 100, 24002 (2012), 2012
Radiative properties of collective electronic states in a one dimensional atomic chain are investigated. Radiative corrections are included with emphasize put on the effect of the chain size through the dependence on both the number of atoms and the lattice constant. The damping rates of collective states are calculated in considering radiative effects

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Lack of evidence for a substantial rate of templated mutagenesis in B cell diversification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
B cell receptor sequences diversify through mutations introduced by purpose-built cellular machinery. A recent paper has concluded that a "templated mutagenesis" process is a major contributor to somatic hypermutation, and therefore immunoglobulin diversification, in mice and humans.

Recommendations for use of free light chain assay in monoclonal gammopathies [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2010
The serum immunoglobulin free light chain assay measures levels of free k and l immunoglobulin light chains. There are three major indications for the free light chain assay in the evaluation and management of multiple myeloma and related plasma cell ...

Acquired dysfibrinogenemia caused by monoclonal production of immunoglobulin λ light chain

open access: yesHaematologica, 2007
Disorders of fibrinogen are usually caused by genetic mutations that result in low protein levels (hypofibrinogenemia) or an abnormal molecule (dysfibrinogenemia). However, environmental and plasma factors can have an acquired effect on its expression or

Skeletal Myopathy as the Initial Manifestation of Light Chain Multiple Myeloma

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Case Reports in Internal Medicine, 2020
Monoclonal gammopathies due to plasma cell dyscrasias can cause various rare neuromuscular disorders. The peripheral nervous system is most commonly affected, while muscle diseases associated with monoclonal gammopathies are rare. Skeletal myopathy, as a

Expression of combinatorial immunoglobulins in macrophages in the tumor microenvironment. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Recent evidence indicates the presence of macrophage subpopulations that express the TCRαβ in chronic inflammatory diseases such as tuberculosis and atherosclerosis and in the tumor microenvironment.

Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

Interaction of a single mode field cavity with the 1D XY model: Energy spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series 682 (2016) 012032, 2016
In this work we use the fundamental in quantum optics Jaynes-Cummings model to study the response of spin $\tfrac12$ chain to a single mode of a laser light falling on one of the spins, a focused interaction model between the light and the spin chain. For the spin-spin interaction along the chain we use the XY model. We report here the exact analytical
