Canine melanocytes: Immunohistochemical expression of melanocytic markers in different somatic areas

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 284-297, August 2023., 2023
Background – Melanoblasts originate in the neural crest from where they migrate to peripheral tissues and differentiate into melanocytes. Alteration during melanocyte development and life can cause different diseases, ranging from pigmentary disorders and decreased visual and auditory functions, to tumours such as melanoma.

Effect of regioisomers of hydroxystearic acids as peroxisomal proliferator‐activated receptor agonists to boost the anti‐ageing potential of retinoids

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 43, Issue 5, Page 619-626, October 2021., 2021
Chiral (R)‐10‐HSA has been shown to be superior to 9‐HSA, 12‐HSA and 17‐HSA as a PPARα agonist. Moreover, 10‐HSA stimulated collagen synthesis in monolayer fibroblast culture as assessed by proteomics and immunohistochemically. Furthermore, we also show the synergistic effects of 10‐HSA with retinol on collagen III synthesis in skin explants ...

A novel water‐in‐oil emulsion with a lecithin‐modified bentonite prevents skin damage from urban dust and cedar pollen

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 42, Issue 3, Page 229-236, June 2020., 2020
A thickened stratum corneum, thinned vital layer and cleaved E‐cadherin were observed by the exposure of urban dust and cedar pollen to reconstructed human epidermis. A novel water‐in‐oil emulsion with a natural surfactant, lecithin, modified bentonite (N‐W/O) significantly prevented these inflammation.

Rituximab for the Treatment of Patients with Autoimmune Hepatitis Who are Refractory or Intolerant to Standard Therapy

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 273-280, 2013., 2013
BACKGROUND: Although most patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) respond to treatment with prednisone and/or azathioprine, some patients are intolerant or refractory to standard therapy. Rituximab is an anti‐CD20 monoclonal antibody that depletes B cells and has demonstrated efficacy in other autoimmune conditions.

Discovery and Verification of Gelsolin as a Potential Biomarker of Colorectal Adenocarcinoma in a Chinese Population: Examining Differential Protein Expression using an Itraq Labelling‐Based Proteomics Approach

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 26, Issue 1, Page 41-47, 2012., 2012
Despite the wide range of available colorectal cancer (CRC) screening tests, less than 50% of cases are detected at early stages. However, the identification of differentially expressed proteins or novel protein biomarkers in CRC may have some utility and, ultimately, improve patient care and survival.
