Rats under mild caloric restriction (85% vs. ad libitum) for 2 weeks show metabolic and structural adaptations in iBAT. Caloric restriction increases glycolysis and triglyceride deposition in the tissue, leading to larger lipid droplets. It also reduces mitochondrial iBAT content, while maintaining iBAT thermogenic potential thanks to an increased ...

Abstract INTRODUCTION The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is critical for executive function, behavioral inhibition, and memory. Its high vulnerability to dementia, compared to other prefrontal regions, remains unclear. METHODS We analyzed post mortem brain tissue from 118 older subjects, including post‐stroke survivors, Alzheimer's disease; vascular ...

RVLM C1 Neurons Innervate Sacral as well as Thoracolumbar Autonomic Preganglionic Neurons in the Rat
Axons expressing the adrenaline‐synthesizing enzyme, phenylethanolamine N‐methyltransferase (PNMT), project widely throughout the spinal cord. Many of these axons are from C1 neurons of the rostral ventrolateral medulla. We confirm that dense arrays of PNMT‐expressing, C1‐derived axons surround thoracolumbar sympathetic preganglionic neurons, many of ...

Immunolocalization of Proteins in Corals: the V-type H+-ATPase Proton Pump
Here we describe the immunolocalization of a membrane-bound proton pump, the V-type H+-ATPase (VHA), in tissues and isolated cells of scleractinian corals.

Amine-storing Organelles in Soma and Dendrites of Human Locus Coeruleus Neurons
Previous studies have identified in human catecholamine neurons abundant spherical acidophilic protein bodies (PB), which originate from mitochondria retaining the double membrane (Issidorides et al., 1996).

Dynamic status of lysosomal cathepsin in bovine oocytes and preimplantation embryos
Lysosomal cathepsin, in particular cathepsin B (CTSB), plays an important role in implantation, pregnancy, and embryonic development. However, little is known about the mechanism related to the dynamic status of lysosomal cathepsins in bovine oocytes and

Immunolocalization of Prostasomes in the Human Prostate
Prostasomes are prostate-derived organelles, which can be isolated from seminal plasma. We have produced a panel of monoclonal antibodies against purified human prostasomes by intrasplenic immunization. Among the prostasome-positive mAbs obtained, one antibody (mAb 78) was selected for further characterization.

Immunolocalization of heme oxygenase-1 in periodontal diseases
Context: Chronic periodontitis is an inflammatory condition of supporting tissues initiated by organisms in dental plaque. The reactive oxygen species and free radicals mediate connective tissue destruction in periodontitis.
