Scaling of hypervelocity impact craters in ice with impact angle [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 2002
Hypervelocity oblique impacts using spherical 1 mm diameter aluminum projectiles at velocities of (5.2 ± 0.2) km s−1 were incident at angles ranging from normal (0° to the vertical) to grazing incidence (80°) onto thick polycrystalline H2O ice targets at 253 K. Data were obtained to distinguish changes in crater size and shape.

Variation in sprinkler irrigation droplet impact angle on the physical crusting properties of soils

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management, 2023
The angle at which a droplet impacts determines its shearing and compaction effects on soil, which in turn affects the formation and properties of the physical soil crust.

Analysis of Line-of-Sight Angle Characteristics for Intercepting a Non-Maneuvering Target With Impact Angle Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
With the widespread informationization in modern warfare, higher requirements are required for monitoring the high-value target’s movement state and the corresponding attack conditions.

Three-Dimensional Fast Fixed-time Convergence Guidance Law With Impact Angle Constraint

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) impact-angle-control guidance law is proposed based on the approaches of nonsingular terminal sliding mode control and fixed-time convergence theory to intercept a maneuvering target.

Impact-Angle-Control Guidance Law with Terminal Constraints on Curvature of Trajectory

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
This paper presents an impact-angle-control guidance law with terminal constraints on the curvature of the missile trajectory. The formulation takes into account nonlinear kinematics and time-varying velocity, allowing for more general cases in which the

The Impact of a Body on a Water Surface at an Arbitrary Angle [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1950
This paper presents an approximate method of determining the pressure distribution during impact on the surface of a body which strikes a horizontal water surface at an arbitrary angle. The effect of the splash is neglected and the pressure on the free boundary is assumed proportional to the potential, as if the process were an impulse ...

Blast Fragment Impact of Angle-Ply Composite Structures for Buildings Wall Protection

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
This paper investigates the fragment performance of several composite panels for attaching to the inside walls of a building structure. These panels were developed using different types of fiber woven fabrics (W0, W90) combined with distinct layers ...

Influence of anthropometric, ball impact and landing location parameters on serve velocity in elite tennis competition

open access: yesBiology of Sport, 2022
This study aimed (i) to analyse the associations between serve velocity (SV) and anthropometric, ball impact and landing location parameters in total serves (TS) and fastest serves (FS) performed during an ATP Tour event; (ii) to observe differences ...

Experimental study on the effect of abrasive water jet impact angle on the cutting performance of sandstone

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Abrasive water jet is a highly efficient cutting technology. Through some sandstone cutting tests, the research on the optimal impact angle and inclined cutting mechanism of rock-like materials is carried out.

Finite Time Guidance Law to Intercept Desired LOS Angle Using NTSM Control [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2018
Nonsingular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) guidance for intercepting the desired line of sight (LOS) angle in terminal phase is proposed in this paper. In order to satisfy the predefined LOS angle and to intercep into target, a nonsingular terminal sliding
