Using artificial neural networks to identify and optimise the key parameters affecting geometry of a GMAW fillet weld [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Control of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) parameters is key to maintaining good quality and consistent fillet weld geometry. The external geometry of the fillet weld can be easily measured, however the internal geometry (i.e.

Predictive Control of a Munition Using Low-Speed Linear Theory

open access: yes, 2008
Modified linear theory provides reasonable impact predictions at high speeds. However, for typical small UAS mission speeds, less than 20-m/s impact errors were substantial due to large angles of attack and pitch rates.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

A New Impact Time and Angle Control Guidance Law for Stationary and Nonmaneuvering Targets

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2016
A guidance problem for impact time and angle control applicable to cooperative attack is considered based on the sliding mode control. In order to satisfy the impact angle constraint, a line-of-sight rate polynomial function is introduced with four ...

Control-Relevant Modeling, Analysis, and Design for Scramjet-Powered Hypersonic Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Within this paper, control-relevant vehicle design concepts are examined using a widely used 3 DOF (plus flexibility) nonlinear model for the longitudinal dynamics of a generic carrot-shaped scramjet powered hypersonic vehicle.

Integrated Guidance and Control Law with Impact Angle Constraint [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2011
The concept of the IGC(Integrated Guidance and Control) has been introduced to overcome the performance limit of the SGC(Separated Guidance and Control) loop. A new type of IGC with impact angle constraint has been proposed in this paper. Angle of attack, pitch angle rate, pitch angle and line of sight angle are considered as state variables.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Three-Dimensional Impact Angle Constrained Partial Integrated Guidance and Control With Finite-Time Convergence

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
A 3-D impact angle constrained partial integrated guidance and control design with finite-time convergence is developed for a surface-to-air skid-to-turn missile intercepting a head-on maneuvering target.

Design of finite time cooperative mid-course guidance law for unmanned target drone aircrafts

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2023
For cooperative mid-course guidance problem of multiple unmanned target drone aircrafts(UTDA), a novel cooperative guidance law with impact angle constraints is proposed in this study.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐
