Social norms and how they impact behaviour

Nature Human Behaviour, 2018
There is wide interest in the social norms construct across psychology, economics, law and social marketing. Now a study investigates an important missing piece in the social norms’ puzzle: what is the underlying process that explains how norms impact behaviour? The answer: self–other similarity (self-categorization) and internalization.

Impact behaviour of concrete: a computational approach

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2004
The purpose of this study is to examine the numerical simulation of concrete specimens under high loading rates in tension. The data found in the literature are described: they show an increase in compressive and tensile strength as a function of the loading rate.

Impact behaviour of heat-resistant toughened composites

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2000
Abstract The present research has two purposes: to measure the influence of toughening on the post-impact residual compressive strength of composites for high temperature application; to check the possibility of studying the problem through experimental tests and numerical simulations.

Behaviour and impact ‘on the ground’

2018
A book on the subject of money laundering would not be complete without consideration of the impact of the AML framework on those that are subject to its rules. Indeed, any critical inter-disciplinary study within the social sciences would remain incomplete without such discussion. The purpose of this review of literature, identified through the search

Behavioural ecology: the impact of parasitism

1991
Abstract Behavioural ecology is the study of the survival value of behaviour (Krebs and Davies 1987). One selective pressure that has received relatively little attention in behavioural ecology is parasitism. We might expect that if parasites have fitness consequences for their hosts, host behaviours that minimize the impact of parasites

Agricultural Tractor Overturning and Impact Behaviour

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1981
A mathematical model to describe tractor overturning and impact was based on the force-deflection relationships of the vehicle and ground structures at their points of contact. The model was used in a computer simulation, which showed good agreement with full scale overturning experiments.
