The impact of standardized footwear on load and load symmetry
Clinical Biomechanics, 2021The inability to standardize footwear is a potential issue when measuring landing kinetics in non-laboratory settings. This study determined the impact of not standardizing footwear on load and load symmetry during landing. A secondary purpose of this study was to introduce the Load Analysis Program, an open-source MATLAB® user-interface for computing ...

Impacts of load reduction offers on load profile
2011 10th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2011Demand Response (DR) has gained so much importance due to its effect on load profile characteristics. The focus of this paper is on impacts of flexible load participation in day-ahead energy market, in which bulk power consumers introduce their load reduction as generation.

This paper covers an analysis of different types of slamming experiments with account taken of different model structural characteristics and the effect of air entrapped in the water. Model data for peak impact pressure are found to correlate on the basis of an absolute pressure ratio and a velocity ratio that accounts for inertial effects.

The impact of cognitive load on reward evaluation
Brain Research, 2015The neural systems that afford our ability to evaluate rewards and punishments are impacted by a variety of external factors. Here, we demonstrate that increased cognitive load reduces the functional efficacy of a reward processing system within the human medial-frontal cortex.

The impact of cognitive load on the perception of time
Proceedings of the 6th Nordic Conference on Human-Computer Interaction: Extending Boundaries, 2010In cognitive psychology it is well known that cognitive load can have a significant impact on time perception. In this paper, we present an observation made during an empirical evaluation of several input techniques, showing that the cognitive load occurring during user input can significantly reduce perceived time.
