The impact of sex on blood pressure
Purpose of review Hypertension is the most prevalent cardiovascular disease worldwide and the leading cause of mortality in both men and women. Despite well documented sex differences in prevalence, risk factors, and treatment responses, current guidelines still fail to take these specificities into account.

A Comparative Study on Violent Sloshing with Complex Baffles Using the ISPH Method
The Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method has become one of the most promising methods for violent wave impact simulations. In this paper, the incompressible SPH (ISPH) method will be used to simulate liquid sloshing in a 2D tank with complex ...

Impact of Pressure on Magnetic Order in Jarosite
Jarosite, a mineral with a kagomé lattice, displays magnetic frustration yet orders magnetically below 65 K. As magnetic frustration can engender exotic physical properties, understanding the complex magnetism of jarosite comprises a multidecade interdisciplinary challenge. Unraveling the nature of the disparate magnetic coupling interactions that lead

Enhancement of Impact Heating in Pressure‐Strengthened Rocks in Oblique Impacts [PDF]
AbstractShock‐induced metamorphism in meteorites informs us about the collisional environment and history of our solar system. Recently, the importance of material strength in impact heating was reported from head‐on impact simulations. Here, we perform three‐dimensional oblique impact simulations and confirm the additional heating due to material ...

On wave impact pressure variability
The variability of the largest wave impacts, where nominally identical waves produce significantly different pressures, is widely known. However, the mechanisms are not well understood. Here we provide a review and investigation of factors affecting the variability of wave impact pressures on steep walls, quantifying the range of parameters that have ...

ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.
