Iceberg Impact Strength

Offshore Technology Conference, 1987
Abstract One of the main uncertainties in design of Arctic offshore structures is the magnitude of ice forces. These loads are dictated by the specific ice related environment and the particular structure under consideration. For areas offshore Eastern Canada, an important load scenario is an open water collision of

Impact factor—strengths and weaknesses

Clinics in Dermatology, 2010
Impact factor, a method of comparing the scientific impact of publications, has its enthusiasts and its opponents. Some believe that it can be used as an objective measure of a scientific career; for example, obtaining university degrees in some European countries depends on the impact factor score of one's published articles.

Impact strength tester

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1935
A method - employing a self-contained, portable instrument, which is easily manipulated - is described of measuring the resistance of materials to fracture by impact. Results, obtained with transparent fused quartz, are shown and indicate that the method may be used to obtain reliable and consistent measurements.

High impact strength as-polymerized PLLA

Polymer Bulletin, 1992
As-polymerized poly(L-lactide), (PLLA), has a much higher impact strength than after compression moulding. Several routes have been explored to further increase the impact strength of nascent PLLA. First results on the preparation of composites with carbon fibres, the copolymerization with trimethylene carbonate and epsilon-caprolactone, the block ...

Impacted corticocancellous allografts: Recoil and strength

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 1999
Bone allografts were morcellized using 2 different milling machines (Tracer milling machine and Howex milling machine) producing bone chips with different ranges of sizes. In an in vitro model, each type of bone-graft was impacted with 2 different impaction forces.

Impact on impact strength

The main purpose of the monograph is to identify the main patterns in assessing the operational reliability of metals on the basis of a mathematical model of unsteady deformation of an isotropic viscoplastic medium, with specified boundary, initial conditions and energy criterion of destruction.
