Translocation effects on regional and local population viability and connectivity

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Translocations and reintroductions aim to improve the viability of isolated populations and promote connectivity for large carnivores. However, there is no established framework for assessing their success. We used the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in western and central Europe to assess the impact of translocations on the viability of six ...

The Impact of Action in Visual Representation Learning

open access: yes2022 IEEE International Conference on Development and Learning (ICDL), 2022
Sensori-motor theories, inspired by work in neuroscience, psychology and cognitive science, claim that actions, through learning and mastering of a predictive model, are a key element in the perception of the environment. On the computational side, in the domains of representation learning and reinforcement learning, models are increasingly using self ...

Effects of restoration practices on biodiversity in temperate and boreal forests

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Several restoration practices are used to mitigate and compensate for the negative effects of large‐scale forestry on biodiversity in temperate and boreal forests. A comprehensive synthesis of the benefits of these practices across taxa is missing. We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis on this topic.

Impact of global change on the distribution of mountain mammals and birds

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Climate change and land‐use changes are key drivers of global biodiversity loss. Many species are shifting to higher elevations or latitudes in response to global warming, often encountering unfavorable land‐use conditions during the shift. These changes can lead to reduced range size and increased extinction risks, particularly for mountain ...

Visualizing the impact of the cache on program execution [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings Fifth International Conference on Information Visualisation, 2002
The global cache misses ratio of a program does not reveal the time distribution of the memory reference patterns in detail. On the other hand, cache visualization is hampered by the huge amount of memory references to display. Therefore, many visualizers focus on a snapshot of the cache content, instead of viewing all memory transactions.

Effects of repeated exposure to ozonated water on hair fibre structure and integrity: Part I

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Repeated exposure to ozonated water caused cumulative oxidative changes in hair, altering structural integrity, thermal behaviour and mechanical properties. The findings reveal a distinct ozone‐induced damage profile that progresses beyond the cuticle, challenging claims of hair‐revitalizing benefits. Abstract Objective Ozone has recently been marketed
