Disentangling Anthropogenic Effects on Southern Hemisphere Circulation and Surface Climate: A Multi‐Model Large Ensemble Approach

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 16, 28 August 2026.
Abstract Southern Hemisphere (SH) circulation and surface climate changes are emerging in recent decades. For example, in most seasons, the SH Hadley cell edge and the eddy‐driven jet stream have shifted polewards, and the Southern Annular Mode (SAM) has trended towards its positive phase.

Programmable Inter‐Droplet Communication by Polymer‐Gated Ion Transport Through Nanopore Lattices

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Laser‐written polyelectrolyte barriers were applied for regulating imbibition and ion transport through silica mesopores between droplet compartments. Specific imbibition sequences and precipitation readouts indicated cation‐selective transport across the barriers. Depending on salt identity, barrier, and experimental parameters, ionic transport ranged

Tracing holotype trajectories: Mapping the movement of the most valuable herbarium specimens

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1304-1321, July 2026.
Global efforts to protect biodiversity depend on fair access to key plant specimens. This study examines the distribution of 119,361 holotypes—unique herbarium specimens used to formally describe new plant species. By linking collection and storage data, we found that holotypes are increasingly held closer to their places of origin, particularly in ...

When conservation meets contagion: Mapping yellow fever risk to guide vaccination in an endangered primate

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
Spatial projections revealed high‐risk areas for YF transmission, highlighting priority zones for targeted vaccination efforts in GLTs. By integrating disease ecology into conservation planning, this study offers a scalable framework for spatially informed interventions aimed at mitigating disease‐driven declines in threatened species.
