Non-invasive estimation of vascular impedance

1996 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings, 2002
Vascular impedance is a quantity that characterises the properties of the vascular bed. In the large arteries, the impedance has a close relationship to the pulse wave velocity. Due to the elastic properties of an artery, the wall pulsation was used for non-invasive estimation of the pulse wave velocity.

Adaptive estimation of impedance cardiographic signals

Proceedings of 16th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2002
An adaptive filter to estimate the deterministic component of the impedance cardiographic signal is presented. This filter removes the noise uncorrelated with the impedance cardiographic signal time-locked to the R-R interval of ECG, using the least mean square (LMS) algorithm.

Comparative Estimation of Impedance Measurement Errors

Measurement Techniques, 2002
Comparing impedance measurement errors in various coordinate systems is considered. An estimator may be based on the area in the complex plane within which the coordinates are undefined on account of the errors.

Acoustic impedance estimation using calibration curve for scanning acoustic impedance microscope

2016 International Conference on Knowledge Creation and Intelligent Computing (KCIC), 2016
Ultrasonic has been used since several decades ago. One of ultrasonic application is used in medical field to observe mechanical properties of target, such as speed of sound, density, acoustic impedance, attenuation, etc. Several methods are also available to estimate mechanical property of target.

Bioelectrical Impedance to Estimate Changes in Hydration Status

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2002
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) has been suggested as a simple, rapid method to assess changes in hydration status. BIA measures the electrical impedance to a low amperage current that is affected by both water and electrolyte content of the body.

Estimation of load impedance in a power system

Ninth International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX441), 2002
This paper describes a novel technique for measuring power system impedance back to source. The technique employs a power electronic converter which injects a voltage transient onto the network via an inductor. The resulting current is correlated with the disturbance voltage to determine the impedance.

Estimation of the magnetotelluric impedance functions

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1978
Abstract The successful interpretation of magnetotelluric data demands well presented, and accurate, estimates of the impedance and tipper functions. In this paper, a method based on the singular value decomposition of the local data matrix, using well known results from multivariate statistical analysis, is proposed as an alternative to current ...
