Evaluation on peripheral arterial occlusive disease with a new electrical impedance plethysmogram

Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1982
A new impedance plethysmogram with a high signal to noise ratio was developed at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay. 51 normal and 126 patients with arterial occlusive disease were studied. Assessment of distal run off was reliable. The findings correlated well with radiological observations.

A method of recording the electroplethysmogram (impedance plethysmogram) of the caudal arteries of rats

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1977
A method of recording the electroplethysmogram of the rat tail by means of cotton fabric electrodes is described.

Estimation of pulse arrival time using impedance plethysmogram from body composition scales

2015 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium (SAS), 2015
Long-term periodic monitoring of cardiovascular function in unobtrusive way has been a challenge in sensor research lately. This work presents the investigation of the method for pulse arrival time (PAT) estimation using body composition scales. It employs the electrocardiogram and the impedance plethysmogram (IPG) which are recorded from palm and ...

A study of arterial pressure plethysmograms and impedance plethysmograms

American Heart Journal, 1961
Abstract 1.1. Comparison of contours of the following height-equalized pulses from the brachial artery has been made: (1) an intra-arterial pressure pulse versus an external pressure plethysmogram; (2) a pressure plethysmogram versus an impedance plethysmogram.

Simultaneously Capturing Electrocardiography and Impedance Plethysmogram Signals From Human Feet by Capacitive Coupled Electrode System

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2017
A microprocessor measurement system is developed for simultaneously capturing electrocardiography (ECG) and impedance plethysmogram (IPG) signals. All the measurement electrodes are coupled with human skin in a non-contact capacitive way. A capacitive coupled pickup circuit is used for obtaining the original ECG and IPG signals.

Electrical Impedance Plethysmogram in Peripheral Blood Flow

1991
We have previously reported the results of experiments on electrical impedance plethysmography and electromagnetic flowmetry in the central caudal arteries of anesthetized rats. Although the theoretical formula we proposed was successfully applied, we did not clarify correlations between CR and mean blood flow obtained in other experiments.

Non-Invasive Monitoring for Cardiac Rejection Using Impedance Plethysmograms

1993
Noninvasive monitoring of cardiac rejection has been the most challenging aspect of cardiac transplantation. Our previous study [1] revealed that the cardiac rejection originates in the right ventricle and shifts to the left ventricle. Therefore, it is possible that the wall motion of the right ventricle could have deteriorated at the initial stage of ...

Effect of electrode size on the contributions of intracranial and extracranial blood flow to the cerebral electrical impedance plethysmogram

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1982
The contribution of scalp blood flow to pulses obtained by cerebral electrical impedance plethysmography (rheoencephalography) has been investigated using a four-electrode (quadripolar) montage with brass disc electrodes 1 cm, 2 cm and 4 cm in diameter.

Problems in the Clinical Interpretation of Impedance Plethysmogram and Rheoencephalogram

1971
It must be accepted that the clinical use of impedance plethysmography, and rheoencephalography (REG) in particular, remains controversial. Other participants in this Conference will doubtless discuss the safety factors which must be considered in the design and construction of equipment to be used in impedance plethysmography.
