Radiation impedance of torsionally vibrating seismic sources [PDF]
Abstract The radiation impedance of a circular disk vibrating torsionally on an anelastic half-space has resonance peaks with a spacing that is a function of the ratio between baseplate radius and seismic wavelength. The presence of a surface layer produces an impedance curve which oscillates around the half-space response.

Average Mechanical Impedance for Random Vibration [PDF]
The response of a system to a random stationary process applied at selected points of a mechanical structure is readily formulated in terms of the mechanical impedance matrix of these points. However, in practice the results suffer from many uncertainties: uncertainties in the measurements of the mechanical impedances; uncertainties in the boundary ...

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
