Imperfect repair models with preventive maintenance
Journal of Applied Probability, 2003Brown and Proschan (1983) introduced the imperfect repair model, in which an item, upon failure, is replaced with a new one with probability α, and is minimally repaired with probability 1 − α. In this paper we equip the imperfect repair model with preventive maintenance, and we obtain stochastic maintenance comparisons for the numbers of failures ...

GENERAL SEQUENTIAL IMPERFECT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MODELS
International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 2000This paper presents new sequential imperfect preventive maintenance (PM) models incorporating adjustment/improvement factors in hazard rate and effective age. The models are hybrid in the sense that they are combinations of the age reduction PM model and the hazard rate adjustment PM model.

Imperfect Preventive-Maintenance
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1979This paper considers a periodic preventive maintenance (pm) policy with ``minimal repair'' at failure; pm is imperfect. A special case of failure (hazard) rate improvement is postulated wherein pm reduces the failure rate, but does not return the time origin all the way to zero.

OPTIMAL AGE-DEPENDENT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE POLICIES WITH IMPERFECT MAINTENANCE
International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering, 1996This paper proposes three age-dependent preventive maintenance models with imperfect repair and/or imperfect preventive maintenance (pm). In these models imperfect repair is treated in a way that after repair the lifetime of a unit will decrease to a fraction of its immediately previous one and its repair time will increase to a multiple of ...

Scheduling Imperfect Preventive and Overhaul Maintenance
International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, 1991Although each maintenance task performed on an item of equipment may enhance its reliability, neither preventive nor overhaul maintenance can return the equipment to good‐as‐new condition. Applying the concept of maintenance improvement factors to both types of maintenance, mathematical models are developed that are used to generate preventive and ...

Sequential imperfect preventive maintenance policies
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1988This paper introduces improvement factors in hazard rate and age for a sequential preventive maintenance (pm) policy and analyzes two imperfect pm models: 1) pm reduces the hazard rate while it increases with the number of pm's and 2) pm reduces the age. The pm is done at intervals \(x_ k\) \((k=1,2,...,N)\) and is imperfect.

Optimum Policies When Preventive Maintenance is Imperfect
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1979This paper considers three models with imperfect preventive maintenance (pm), viz the unit after pm is not always like new; i) the unit is repaired upon failure, ii) the unit undergoes minimal repair at failure, and iii) the failed unit is detected only by perfect pm.

Selective preventive maintenance scheduling under imperfect repair
2013 Proceedings Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS), 2013The demand for a system is sometimes available only for a finite time horizon. It thus becomes necessary to schedule maintenance activities during a given planning horizon such that the desired system performance is maintained and the available resources are optimally allocated.

Modelling and analysis of maintenance contract with imperfect preventive maintenance
2015 International Conference on Technology, Informatics, Management, Engineering & Environment (TIME-E), 2015In this paper, we study two dimensional maintenance contracts for a dump truck operated in a mining industry. To keep the truck in a good operational condition, an imperfect preventive maintenance (PM) policy is applied. When the truck fails then corrective maintenance (CM) is done.

IMPERFECT PRODUCTION SYSTEMS WITH IMPERFECT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, INFLATION, AND TIME VALUE OF MONEY [PDF]
A model that integrates the issues of production, quality, maintenance, inspection, inflation, and time value of money is proposed in this paper. It is assumed that the production system starts in the in-control state producing items of high or perfect quality.
