Maintenance optimization in failure-prone systems under imperfect preventive maintenance

Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2018
In the majority of the existing preventive optimization models only costs related to maintenance actions are accounted for, while breakdown and operational costs are usually ignored. Liao et al. (J Intell Manuf 21(6):875–884, 2010) proposed a preventive maintenance model to deal with this shortcoming.

A modified imperfect preventive maintenance policy under reliability limit

2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, 2008
Different type of maintenance problems have been investigated during the past decades. With the growth in complexity of modern systems, the cost of purchasing new systems becomes higher ever than before. Surprisingly, very little attention in the literature has been paid to the failure replacement in these preventive maintenance models.

Integrated preventive maintenance and production decisions for imperfect processes

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2016
Abstract This paper integrates production, maintenance, and quality for an imperfect process in a multi-period multi-product capacitated lot-sizing context. The production system is modeled as an imperfect machine, whose the status is considered to be either in-control or out-of-control.

A modified imperfect preventive maintenance policy considering failure replacement

Journal of the Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers, 2010
This article is an extension of the periodic imperfect maintenance model in the literature. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence on the optimal periodic maintenance policy after considering the failure replacement in the last period of preventive maintenance (PM).

A cumulative damage shock model with imperfect preventive maintenance

Naval Research Logistics, 1991
In this article we consider a cumulative damage shock model under a periodic preventive maintenance (PM) policy. The PM is imperfect in the sense that each PM reduces the damage level by 100(1 – b)%, 0 < b < 1. A system suffers damage due to shocks and fails when the damage level exceeds some threshold.

Warranty cost models considering imperfect repair and preventive maintenance

Bell Labs Technical Journal, 2006
Today most products are sold with a warranty that offers financial protection to consumers due to failures during the warranty period. Depending on the type of product, its inherent quality/reliability, and a host of other variables including the warranty period, warranty cost could be a significant portion of the overall product cost. Therefore, it is
