Surface Imperfection Quality Control

2009
Although it is now generally accepted that all surfaces may be to some extent less than perfect, there is still little objective information available on the relation between the severity of a particular imperfection and its impact on the quality of the system in which it occurs.

Financial imperfections, product quality, and international trade

Journal of International Economics, 2017
We study how financial imperfections affect product quality across countries and industries, and analyze the implications for trade flows and prices. To this purpose we assemble a unique data set, which contains estimates of export quality, financial development, and financial vulnerability, for all countries and manufacturing industries over the last ...

Data Quality Ontology: An Ontology for Imperfect Knowledge

2007
Data quality and ontology are two of the dominating research topics in GIS, influencing many others. Research so far investigated them in isolation. Ontology is concerned with perfect knowledge of the world and ignores so far imperfections in our knowledge.

Effect of deterioration on two-warehouse inventory model with imperfect quality

Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2015
Two-warehouse inventory model for deteriorating items with imperfect quality.100% screening is conducted immediately after receiving the order. The screening rate is assumed to be greater than the demand rate (no shortages).Imperfect items are sold as a single batch at a discounted price. The proposed model is a general framework as it includes numerous ...

Integrated Inventory Models with Process Quality Improvement under Imperfect Quality and Carbon Emissions

2016 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services (MS), 2016
The paper develops the integrated inventory models with imperfect quality and environmental impact. Specially, the capital investments strategies in process quality improvement are adopted. In addition, we further consider the operations decisions in ordering, production, and transportation involving carbon emission costs.

A TWO-WAREHOUSE INVENTORY MODEL FOR ITEMS WITH IMPERFECT QUALITY AND QUANTITY DISCOUNTS [PDF]

open access: possibleAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2011
In this paper, a two-warehouse inventory model for items with imperfect quality and all-unit quantity discounts was developed. In practice, the supplier usually offers quantity discounts to encourage the retailer ordering larger lot sizes and thus, extra storage space is needed for the retailer.

JOINT QUALITY CONTROL AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE STRATEGY FOR IMPERFECT PRODUCTION PROCESSES

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
In this paper, we develop a joint quality control and preventive maintenance policy for a production system producing conforming and nonconforming units. The considered system consists of one machine which must supply another production line operating on a just-in-time basis. Each lot produced by the machine is subject to a quality control.
