A TWO-WAREHOUSE INVENTORY MODEL FOR ITEMS WITH IMPERFECT QUALITY AND QUANTITY DISCOUNTS [PDF]

open access: possibleAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2011
In this paper, a two-warehouse inventory model for items with imperfect quality and all-unit quantity discounts was developed. In practice, the supplier usually offers quantity discounts to encourage the retailer ordering larger lot sizes and thus, extra storage space is needed for the retailer.

Fuzzy Random EOQ Models with Imperfect Quality Items

2006 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2006
This paper investigates the economic order quantity (EOQ) inventory problem with imperfect quality items, where the percentages of defective items and poor-quality items in each delivered lot are assumed to be random variables, and the inspection cost, holding cost, ordering cost are characterized as fuzzy variables, respectively.

Vendor-managed inventory models for items with imperfect quality

International Journal of Operational Research, 2013
In this paper, two models for supply chain under VMI settings are developed when the incoming lot of items contains a fraction of non-conforming items. The first model is for a decentralised case where the vendor’s profit is maximised. However, there is significant extra profit to be realised by optimising the performance of the entire supply chain ...

Economic ordering policy for an item with imperfect quality subject to the in-house inspection

International Journal of Systems Science, 2007
This article considers a production/inventory system where each lot of items received or produced contains a random proportion of defective units, items of imperfect quality. The purchaser contacts a 100% inspection in order to identify the perfect (acceptable) quality items. The model examines the following two options for the imperfect quality items:

An economic order quantity model of imperfect quality items with partial backlogging

International Journal of Systems Science, 2011
This article deals with an economic order quantity (EOQ) model in which a certain percentage of a lotsize is of imperfect quality products. This percentage follows a uniform distribution function. During the inspection of the total lot-size, a stock-out situation may occur.

Sustainable production strategies for deteriorating and imperfect quality items with an investment in preservation technology

International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, 2021
With the rapid development of sustainable practices, supply chain members are interested in performing well, not only economically but also environmentally. The present paper develops an imperfect production inventory model where items are prone to deterioration. The bad quality items so produced are separated and sold to a different market.

Inventory Models for Imperfect Quality Items: A Two-Decade Review

2021
In recent times, the subject of imperfect quality items has received significant consideration from various researchers and supply chain members. There is not a single field of business that has not been affected by the imperfect quality items. In today’s competitive world, the management of imperfect items is the need of the hour for doing good ...

A review of the extensions of a modified EOQ model for imperfect quality items

International Journal of Production Economics, 2011
Abstract Imperfect items in the raw material and production stages of a supply chain directly impact the coordination of the product flow within a supply chain. In response to this concern, production and inventory lot sizing models, which incorporate imperfect items into their formulation have become an important and growing area of research.

Inventory Model for Imperfect Quality Deteriorating Items with Carbon Tax Regulation

International Journal of Inventory Control and Management, 2021
Emissions of carbon are one of the primary causes of global warming. Several countries are currently working on reducing carbon emissions. For many countries, carbon taxes and cap policies are the key mechanisms used to accomplish this goal. To deal with this issue, a sustainable economic production quantity (SEPQ) carbon tax and cap model is ...

Revisit economic ordering strategy for items with imperfect quality and backordering

International Journal of Management and Enterprise Development, 2013
Most studies assume that poor quality items are kept in stock and sold at a discounted price at the end of each period, and there will be no shortage within the screening time. This is not usually done in practice. Therefore, we revisit Maddaha and Jaber’s model (2008) and apply the renewal theory to develop an economic ordering strategy by considering
