A bundling strategy for items with different quality based on functions involving the minimum of two random variables

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering Business Management, 2018
A common strategy to increase sales and profit is to combine different types of products into bundles and sell at a discounted price. In this study, we consider the case where a wholesaler offers to sell two types of products through discount bundles ...

Economic order quantity model of imperfect items using single sampling plan for attributes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering, 2022
In this paper, an economic order quantity (EOQ) model is proposed for imperfect items in a lot of products. A single sampling plan is considered in this model. The sample in a lot of products is chosen and inspected by attribute.

An entropic economic order quantity (EnEOQ) for items with imperfect quality

open access: yesApplied Mathematical Modelling, 2013
Abstract This paper presents an entropic version of an EOQ model with imperfect quality items. The approach adopted herein models the commodity flow (demand rate) as a heat flow in a thermodynamic system. As a result, an entropy cost term is added to the classical inventory cost to form an entropic total inventory cost function.

An Inventory Model for Imperfect Quality Products with Rework, Distinct Holding Costs, and Nonlinear Demand Dependent on Price

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
Traditionally, the inventory models available in the literature assume that all articles in the purchased lot are perfect and the demand is constant. However, there are many causes that provoke the presence of defective goods and the demand is dependent ...

A Lot-Sizing Model for a Multi-State System with Deteriorating Items, Variable Production Rate, and Imperfect Quality

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences, 2022
Conventional production systems assume that during the manufacturing processes, machines operate without breakdown over an infinite planning horizon and manufacture only products of good quality.

Inventory Modeling for Imperfect Production Process with Inspection Errors, Sales Return, and Imperfect Rework Process [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences, 2017
In real life, due to certain machine problems, process deterioration and many other factors, production processes deliver imperfect quality items. So, the effect of these defectives cannot be ignored in terms of ensuring good customer service.

Economic Order Quantity for Items with Two Types of Imperfect Quality

open access: yesAn International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories & Applications (IJOCTA), 2011
The classical economic order quantity considers that the ordered items are of perfect quality. In this research, a model for the economic order quantity of imperfect quality items is developed, where the incoming lot has fractions of scrap and reworkable items.

Managing Carbon Foot Prints in Supply Chain for Imperfect Quality Items

open access: yesJournal of Reliability and Statistical Studies, 2023
Producing 100% high-quality items is a challenging task in today’s era, which often results in the delivery of defective products. Therefore, inspecting the lot becomes a necessity. This paper investigates the impact of environmental concerns on the inventory model by incorporating fuel costs and emission taxes.
