Maintenance policy costs considering imperfect repairs

2023
Objective: This paper extends the analysis of imperfect preventive maintenance interspaced with minimal repairs. The aim is to find the intervals of future scheduled maintenance actions considering different recovery factors and costs. Methods: The optimal preventive maintenance scheduling are obtained by minimizing the overall maintenance costs ...

Availability of Large Scale Repairable Systems with Imperfect Repair

International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems, 2014
Operational systems consist of components that deteriorate and eventually fail. Upon failure, components are either repaired or replaced. Cheap and critical components are usually replaced, while expensive and non-critical ones are repaired before replacement. In this research work, repairable systems undergoing imperfect repair are examined where upon

Testing the Minimal Repair Assumption in an Imperfect Repair Model

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1994
Abstract Models assuming minimal repair specify that on repair, a failed system is returned to the working state, while the effective age of the system is held constant; that is, the distribution of the time until the next failure of the repaired system is the same as for a system of the same age that has not yet failed.

A General Imperfect Repair Model Considering Time-Dependent Repair Effectiveness

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 2012
Kijima I and Kijima II models are two important imperfect repair models in literature. These two models use one constant parameter to represent the degree of repair, which is called Repair Effectiveness (RE) in this paper. We developed a more general imperfect repair model by extending the constant RE to a time-dependent function based on the virtual ...

Multiple component series systems with imperfect repair

International Journal of Operational Research, 2009
Systems continuously deteriorate over time, and hence require repair and maintenance to uphold their reliability and availability. Two imperfect multi-component repair models are examined in this paper, where it is assumed that the performance of a system becomes inferior after each failure.

Performance and cost analysis of repairable systems under imperfect repair

International Journal of Operational Research, 2015
Operating systems do not consistently perform their intended function or mission due to improper maintenance and degradation, and thus eventually fail. Upon failure, they are either repaired or replaced; critical and non–expensive systems are usually replaced, whereas expensive and non–critical systems are repaired.

Imperfect repair and lifesaving in heterogeneous populations

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2007
In this theoretical paper we generalize the notion of minimal repair to the heterogeneous case, when the lifetime distribution function can be modeled by continuous or a discrete mixture of distributions. The statistical (black box) minimal repair and the minimal repair based on information just before the failure of an object are considered.
