Urban greenspace and dementia: Measures, mechanisms, and methodological guidance
Abstract Urban greenspace has been associated with improved cognition and reduced Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD‐related dementias (ADRD) risk, but findings remain mixed, study quality varies, and evidence is largely cross‐sectional. To advance the field, we offer guidance to select and apply greenspace exposure measures in AD/ADRD research.

Temperatures of impervious surfaces in rural Montana
Abstract. Data described here demonstrate utility of bicycles as platforms for and carriers of modern small capable sensors. For two years (September 2021 to October 2023), I rode a bicycle carrying sensors that simultaneously measured GPS time and position, air temperature(s), surface temperature, downwelling visible and UV light, spectrally-resolved ...

Impact of Urban Environmental Indices on Surface Temperature in Dhaka: A Policy‐Oriented Perspective
ABSTRACT Dhaka's rapid urban expansion has intensified surface heating and degraded environmental quality. This study analyzes environmental indices from 2015 to 2025, revealing a strong positive relationship between built‐up growth and land surface temperature, and negative associations with vegetation and water presence.

Exploring Uncharted Waters: The Role of Artificial Aquatic Ecosystems in Freshwater Science
The world's farms and cities house an abundance of human‐made waters, including farm dams, stormwater ponds, constructed wetlands, and ditches: known collectively as “artificial aquatic ecosystems.” In this viewpoint we challenge the entrenched idea that human‐made waters have limited ecological value, discuss the disconnect between the functioning of ...

Effects of Vegetated and Synthetic (Impervious) Surfaces on the Microclimate of Urban Area
The present paper shows the considerable impacts of both vegetated and synthetic surfaces on the microclimate of urban area. Vegetation of a particular place affects the microclimate through reduced solar radiation and lower air temperature due to ...

Species Distribution Models and Abundance Estimates Enhance Breeding Bird Atlas Data
Our primary goal was to leverage the large amount of systematic and volunteer‐based data produced by the Minnesota Breeding Bird Atlas to develop species distribution models and population estimates for as many breeding bird species as possible. We utilized three complementary techniques to develop species distribution models and maps for 136 breeding ...

ABSTRACT Variations in sexual size dimorphism (SSD) have important consequences for animal ecology, behavior, population dynamics, and the evolution of life‐history traits, and can be explained by many intraspecific and interpopulation hypotheses. Urbanization is an important factor that affects anuran phenotypic characteristics (including morphology),

We used 27 years of data from an insectivorous passerine in southeastern Australia, the superb fairy‐wren Malurus cyaneus, to assess how climate variation influences vegetation productivity and, indirectly, reproduction and survival via potential trophic interactions.
