Study on Compulsive Cooling of Straight Impinging Jet Array and Swirling Jet Impingement
2006 International Conference on Electronic Materials and Packaging, 2006Impinging jet is one of the ideal schemes to satisfy the heat dissipation requirement of the high power chips. In this research, experiments are carried out to investigate the heat transfer between the straight impinging jet array and an iso-heat-flux simulant chip (a heated epoxy resin plate).

On unsymmetrically impinging jets
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1990Two impinging two-dimensional incompressible inviscid fluid jets of known widths and velocities produce two outgoing jets. The speeds of the outgoing jets are readily determined from the Bernoulli equation. Their two widths and two directions (four quantities) are related by conservation of mass and conservation of two components of momentum (three ...

Pressure field generated by jet-on-jet impingement
AIAA Journal, 1987Etude experimentale de l'impact de deux jets turbulents axisymetriques l'un sur l'autre. L'angle d'impact est de 180° et les jets sont issus de grandes plaques planes.

Publisher Summary Impinging liquid jets have found usage in many industrial applications, in both submerged (liquid-into-liquid) and free-surface (liquid-into-gas) arrangements. Because of the attractiveness of jet impingement cooling for high-heat-flux applications, numerous studies have been performed for both single- and two-phase conditions. This

Jet to jet impingement in a confined space
1997Reaction injection moulding (RIM) is commercially used in industry for making polymer parts. In this process, two or more jets produce impingement mixing of low viscosity monomers or oligomers in a mixhead. In order to better understand an impingement mixer, it is essential to understand the flow field created by the opposed laminar jets in a similar ...

Orifice and Impingement Flow Fields in Confined Jet Impingement
Journal of Electronic Packaging, 1998The flow fields in the orifice and the confinement region of a normally impinging, axisymmetric, confined, and submerged liquid jet were computationally investigated. Numerical predictions were made for orifice diameters of 3.18 and 6.35 mm at several orifice-to-target plate spacings, with turbulent jet Reynolds number ranging from 8500 to 23,000.

Computations of jet impingement on a flat surface
16th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1978Abstract : An incompressible, inviscid rotational flow model is used to represent the normal impingement of axisymmetric jets and the oblique impingement of two-dimensional jets upon a flat surface. The Poisson-type equation that results from this formulation is cast into suitable finite difference form and solved by relaxation techniques.

Turbulent Flow Characteristics of Aim Impinging JET
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1972Measurements of shear stress, turbulence energy and other parameters were made in the impingement region of a plane two-dimensional jet confined between parallel walls. Hot wire anemometer arrays were used to examine the turbulance levels in the three directions. The object of the experiments was to make comparisons with a prediction method previously

Characterizing Polymers with an Impinging Jet
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996Abstract The impinging jet is a well-established technique to study the deposition of colloidal particles onto a solid surface (a collector) under well-defined hydrodynamic and physicochemical conditions. The presence of polymers, in solution, adsorbed onto the colloidal particles or onto the collector surface, can have a large effect on the ...

This chapter is an introduction to impinging jet atomizers, in which two or more jets are made to impinge on each other. High energy impingement of these jets results in the atomization of the liquid. The chapter provides the theory for the prediction of the sheet formed by the impingement of two jets, followed by estimates of droplet sizes based on ...
