Characteristics of acoustic and hydrodynamic waves in under-expanded supersonic impinging jets
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2020In this study large-eddy simulations of under-expanded supersonic impinging jets are performed to develop a better understanding of the characteristics of the acoustic and hydrodynamic waves.

Receptivity characteristics of under-expanded supersonic impinging jets
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2020The receptivity of an under-expanded supersonic impinging jet flow at a sharp nozzle lip to acoustic impulse disturbances is investigated as a function of geometric and flow parameters.

Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification, 1990
Abstract This article reviews the authors' achievements in the field of impinging jet absorbers with and without chemical reaction. The major conclusions of the investigations indicated that such absorbers exhibit the highest values for the mass transfer coefficients, and that such devices equipped with Caldyn CSL nozzles are a more attractive option

Drying Technology, 1992
ABSTRACT In coating and gravure printing, an impinging jet nozzle with high thermal efficiency for drying of coated film was developed. Trial production 0f 40 kinds of nozzle enables to develop a high-performance impinging jet nozzle with heat transfer coefficient 1.5 times larger than that of current slit nozzle, through measurement of heat transfer ...

Combustion and Flame, 1968
Abstract An experimental investigation has been made of a flame impinging at an angle of 20° on the hearth of a furnace. Measured velocity and temperature profiles in the flame were found to have the same reduced form as profiles obtained for a plane heated impinging jet, by Mathieu.

The characteristics of the velocity and pressure fields of a round turbulent jet impinging onto a plate have been studied. Previous studies covered impingement heights that placed the plate in the fully developed flow region of the jet. The present study covered impingement heights between 0 and 20 nozzle radii.

Heat transfer optimization of twin turbulent sweeping impinging jets
, 2019In this study, a numerical investigation is carried out to reveal the potential of obtaining uniform cooling on a planar surface by impinging jets in a turbulent flow regime using the SST k − ω turbulence model.

Physics of Fluids A: Fluid Dynamics, 1991
An analysis of the characteristics of the spray produced by an impinging-jet injector is presented. Predictions of the spray droplet size and distribution are obtained through studying the formation and disintegration of the liquid sheet formed by the impact of two cylindrical jets of the same diameter and momentum. Two breakup regimes of the sheet are

Publisher Summary Impinging liquid jets have found usage in many industrial applications, in both submerged (liquid-into-liquid) and free-surface (liquid-into-gas) arrangements. Because of the attractiveness of jet impingement cooling for high-heat-flux applications, numerous studies have been performed for both single- and two-phase conditions. This
