Impinging Circular Turbulent Jets
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1974The normal impingement of turbulent circular jets on smooth walls is studied both experimentally and analytically. This type of flow can be divided into three distinct flow regions: the free-jet region; the impingement region; and the wall-jet region. The impingement region is the most important.

Multiple jet impingement cooling
Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 1993Experiments were performed to study the effect of nozzle rotation, flow rate, degrees of subcooling, number of jets, and velocity on the heat flux in jet impingement cooling using deionized distilled water. The heat flux is a strong function of the flow rate and degree of subcooling, attaining a maximum value of the order of 600 W/cm at the highest ...

Jet impingement nucleate boiling
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1986Abstract The characterististics of nucleate boiling with jet impingement were investigated. Included are the effects of velocity, subcooling, flow direction and surface condition on fully developed boiling and on the correspondence of the extrapolation of pool boiling with developed jet boiling. Incipient boiling and partial boiling are in accordance

Turbulent jet ignition can reliably be used to ignite an ultra-lean fuel/air mixture as illustrated in previous chapters. This ignition technique can be utilized in various applications ranging from pulse detonation engines, wave rotor combustor explosions, to supersonic combustors and natural gas engines. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), 2000
Abstract This paper presents an experimental investigation on MEMS impinging jets as applied to micro heat exchangers. We have fabricated MEMS single and array jet nozzles using DRIE technology, as well as a MEMS quartz chip providing a simulated hot surface for jet impingement.

This chapter is an introduction to impinging jet atomizers, in which two or more jets are made to impinge on each other. High energy impingement of these jets results in the atomization of the liquid. The chapter provides the theory for the prediction of the sheet formed by the impingement of two jets, followed by estimates of droplet sizes based on ...

On unsymmetrically impinging jets
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1990Two impinging two-dimensional incompressible inviscid fluid jets of known widths and velocities produce two outgoing jets. The speeds of the outgoing jets are readily determined from the Bernoulli equation. Their two widths and two directions (four quantities) are related by conservation of mass and conservation of two components of momentum (three ...
