Masticatory Function with Implant-supported Overdentures
Journal of Dental Research, 2004The type of attachment that is used in implant-supported mandibular overdentures may influence the retention and stability of the prosthesis and, thus, masticatory function. In this within-subject cross-over clinical trial, we examined the hypothesis that greater retention and stability of the overdenture improve the masticatory function.

The Implant-Supported Milled-Bar Mandibular Overdenture
Journal of Prosthodontics, 2001Osseointegrated dental implants have been proven successful in the treatment of edentulism. The predictability of the implant‐supported prosthesis has also been established. Several techniques have been described for the successful restoration of the edentulous mandible: fixed‐detachable prostheses with either the original Brånemark hybrid prosthesis ...

Implant supported overdentures — the Birmingham experience
Journal of Dentistry, 1997The use of an implant retained overdenture with magnets offers a simple treatment approach to the problem of instability of the complete denture. Advantages with magnets include a simplified clinical technique and reduced lateral stresses on the abutments.

Journal of Prosthodontics, 1993Slant‐Lock overdentures, Class I: Division 3 prostheses, provide a stable and retentive prosthetic design for edentulous patients with osseointegrated implants. In patients who have moderate to severe atrophy of the edentulous ridge, the Slant‐Lock overdenture provides additional support for the para‐oral structures. The prostheses increase the ease of

Classification System for Implant-Supported Overdentures
Implant Dentistry, 1999A classification system for implant-supported overdentures is proposed in this article. Various types of implant-supported overdentures have been described in the literature, but there is considerable difference in the function of these designs. For example, an overdenture supported by freestanding implants does not have the retentive elements provided
