Electrical Stimulation Directs Formation of Perfused Vasculature in Engineered Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrical stimulation (ESTIM) enhances vasculature formation in engineered human tissues. In 3D endothelial‐fibroblast constructs, conditioning with ESTIM promotes the formation of dense and highly branched networks that rapidly anastomose with mouse vasculature when implanted in vivo. Vessels formed under ESTIM are importantly functionally perfusable.

Tetrastigma Hemsleyanum Polysaccharide Suppresses Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer by Disrupting the Hippo‐YAP/TEAD4‐PDIA4 Axis and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) exhibits addiction to chronic endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, which sustains an aggressive metastatic phenotype through activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we identify a previously unrecognized “ER‐stress addiction” axis in which the Hippo pathway effector TEAD4 directly ...

Malposition of a Port Catheter in the Azygos Vein: Endovascular Repositioning Using a Long Loop Snare Technique

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Port catheters provide a reliable, long‐term venous access option in children for repeated administration of medications or parenteral nutrition. A cardiac catheterization procedure was performed in a 7‐year‐old girl in whom lateral chest radiography revealed posterior deviation suggestive of azygos vein malposition.

Comparing internal jugular vein and subclavian vein for central venous insertion of implantable ports in cancer chemotherapy: a meta-analysis of RCTs

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundCentral venous access for cancer chemotherapy is crucial for patients undergoing long-term treatment. The internal jugular vein (IJV) and subclavian vein (SCV) are commonly used for implantable port insertion, though the optimal choice remains ...

Association between specialized nutrition support and 90‐day mortality relative to standard of care in malnourished adults with decompensated cirrhosis: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Malnutrition is common among patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis and linked to poor prognosis. Guidelines recommend intensified nutrition support e.g. parenteral nutrition, but evidence regarding safety and effectiveness is scarce. We aimed to investigate the impact of nutrition support, specifically parenteral nutrition, on

A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor constructed by photodeformable liquid crystal polymers and its application in vision restoration

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
A flexible arched artificial photoreceptor with high stability and biocompatibility was fabricated by integrating liquid crystal polymers with polyvinylidene fluoride‐trifluoroethylene. This device exhibits robust photoelectric responses under low‐intensity illumination and demonstrates efficacy in restoring visual responses in blind rats following ...

Comparison of Implantable Central Venous Ports:Subclavian Versus Juguler Access

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Analytical Medicine, 2013
Aim: Today, implantable central venous ports (ICVP) are increasingly used in oncology patients and provide easy vascular access for delivery of chemotherapy, other intravenous treatments, as fluids, blood products and parenteral nutrition solutions.
