Experimental artificial heart implantation

The American Journal of Surgery, 1963
Abstract 1. 1. An artificial heart with external compression power and control of our own design has been described. 2. 2. Experience with twenty-one implantations in dogs is discussed with special reference to causes of failure. Loss of valve fixation and compressor breakdown accounted for most of the failures. 3. 3. At autopsy, clot was

Experimental peri‐implant mucositis at different implant surfaces

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2014
AbstractObjectivesTo histologically and immunologically assess experimental peri‐implant mucositis at surface enhanced modified (mod) hydrophilic titanium implants.Materials and MethodsIn a split‐mouth design (n = 6 foxhounds), four different implants were inserted on each side of the maxilla: three titanium‐zirconium alloy implants (TiZr) with either ...

Experimental Peri‐Implant Tissue Breakdown Around Hydroxyapatite‐Coated Implants

Journal of Periodontology, 1997
This study monitored experimental peri‐implant tissue breakdown around hydroxyapatite (HA)‐coated titanium dental implants. Thirty‐two HA‐coated cylindrical implants, in groups of two, were bilaterally inserted in the posterior maxilla and mandible in 4 Macaca mulatta monkeys.

Implant Chemotherapy of Experimental Filariasis

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1974
The in vitro diffusion of the organophosphate famphur from polydimethylsiloxane (PDS) capsules into plasma and their effects on Litomosoides carinii and Dipetalonema witei in jirds was studied. The in vitro rate of diffusion per 24 hours was constant and was directly proportional to the capsule lumen surface area and inversely proportional to the ...

Comparison of experimental porous silicone implants and porous silicone implants

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2011
To investigate the extent and pattern of fibrovascular ingrowth of porous silicone sphere implants compared to porous polyethylene implants.Experimental porous silicone sphere implants and porous polyethylene implants were implanted in the left socket of 20 New Zealand white rabbits after enucleation. Fibrovascular ingrowth and maturation was evaluated

Experimental Dynamic Tests of Rib Implants

2018
This paper presents dynamic tests that are performed on swine ribs. TEMARI (TEsting MAchine for Artificial RIbs) machine has been modified in order to set up and adapt an osteosynthesis implant in a fractured swine rib under load conditions emulating the respiratory cycle in a human being.

Experimental implantation of adipose tissue fragments

British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1989
The healing of small adipose tissue implants was evaluated in experimental studies on rats. Adipose tissue of approximately 0.5 ml volume was obtained by resection of parauterine fat pads. The tissue was divided into fragments that were 1-3 mm in size and implanted under the dorsal skin.
