Many organisations have recognised the problem of experts taking home a huge amount of specific knowledge, which they have gathered in their department, when they leave. The successor is capable only of acquiring explicit expertise because implicit experiences are not documented and therefore no more available.

Extracting Implicit Knowledge

The article explores methods for extracting implicit knowledge. It is difficult to transfer implicit knowledge since it is fixed in implicit knowledge medium - a person. The extraction of implicit knowledge transforms it into explicit knowledge and makes it possible to transfer it from person to person. The features of implicit knowledge are described.
