Geometric Illumination of Implicit Surfaces
Illumination of scenes is usually generated in computer graphics using polygonal meshes. In this paper, we present a geometric method using projections. Starting from an implicit polynomial equation of a surface in 3-D or a curve in 2-D, we provide a semi-algebraic representation of each part of the construction.

Implicit Surface-Based Geometric Fusion
This paper introduces a general purpose algorithm for reliable integration of sets of surface measurements into a single 3D model. The new algorithm constructs a single continuous implicit surface representation which is the zero-set of a scalar field function.

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

Natural Variation of NAR5 Determines Nitrogenase Activity and the Yield in Soybean
This study identified NAR5, a gene encoding a subtilisin‐like protease, that regulates nitrogenase activity in soybean nodules. Overexpressing NAR5 delayed nodule senescence, enhancing nitrogenase activity, yield, and low‐nitrogen tolerance. The elite haplotype NAR5HapI‐1 linked to superior nitrogenase activity and greater seed weight has been ...

Techniques for Stochastic Implicit Surface Modelling and Rendering [PDF]
Implicit surfaces are a powerful shape primitive for computer graphics. This thesis focuses on a shape modelling approach which generates synthetic shapes by the specification of an implicit surface generating function that has random properties.

The Importance of Metal‐Organic Framework Linker Atoms for CO2 Reduction: A DFT Study
Using DFT, we examine the role of linker atoms in CO2 reduction on copper‐based metal organic frameworks (Cu MOFs). Our calculations reveal that linker atoms may serve as both CO2 and H‐shuttling sites and suggest linker electrostatics as a descriptor for linker activity. ABSTRACT Although the metal within the secondary building unit of a metal‐organic

Implicit Curve and Surface Design Using Smooth Unit Step Functions
This paper presents an implicit curve and surface design technique that uses smooth unit step functions. With the proposed method, an implicit curve or surface can be generated by inputting a sequence of points together with the normals at these points ...

Whole‐genome analysis of 1,054 chickens reveals three ancestral sources (NWC, SYA, and SHF) with distinct temporal entry patterns into the Tibetan Plateau. Route‐specific selection scans, calibrated against a demographic null, suggest complementary functional enrichments—vascular homeostasis (NWC), calcium signaling and cardiac adaptation (SYA), and ...

Some modifications of MPS method for incompressible free surface flow
As a Lagrangian mesh-free method, the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS)[1] method is very suitable for simulating violent flows, such as breaking waves on free surface.
