Copper‐Driven Epithelial Barrier Disruption: A Novel Mechanism of COPD Acute Exacerbations Mediated by the TNF‐α/ATP7A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a copper‐driven mechanism of COPD acute exacerbations mediated by the TNF‐α/ATP7A axis. TNF‐α suppresses the copper transporter ATP7A via competitive NF‐κB/CREB1/CBP signaling, resulting in intracellular copper accumulation, mitochondrial oxidative stress, and epithelial barrier disruption.

Mr BMT Achieves Systemic Macrophage Replacement With Preservation of Tissue Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglia replacement by bone marrow transplantation (Mr BMT) enables systemic replacement of tissue‐resident macrophages. Despite persistent macrophage and tissue remodeling across multiple organs, core biological functions and innate immune responses remain preserved, supporting long‐term maintenance of organismal homeostasis and the therapeutic ...

Critical import supply elasticities and the ‘imports-as-market-discipline’ hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper formally examines the factors underlying how responsive imports must be to domestic prices (the ‘import supply elasticity’) in order to thwart an anticompetitive domestic price increase stemming from a merger––an issue that frequently arises ...

BAP31 Drives Cartilage Calcification through Disruption of Autophagosome–Lysosome Fusion in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical stress activates BAP31 in chondrocytes. BAP31 competes with ATG14 for binding to STX17, disrupting the STX17–ATG14 complex required for autophagosome–lysosome fusion. The resultant autophagic flux blockade drives the generation of autophagy‐derived exosomes, which mediate pathological cartilage calcification in OA. Chondrocyte‐targeted BAP31

The U.S. Import of Beef: Substitute or Complement for Domestic Beef Production? [PDF]

open access: yes
U.S. beef producers have always been concerned that beef imports may depress prices. Consumer groups have held the opposite view. This research addresses this issue by assessing the impact of beef imports on wholesale domestic beef prices.
