Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Flux trapping in hydrides not yet confirmed [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In Ref. [1], Minkov et al reported the time dependence of magnetic moment of hydride materials under high pressure in a diamond anvil cell. Here we point out that the straight lines interpolated with the measurement results give the misleading impression that thermal flux creep in superconductors decays linearly with time. To dispel this misconception,

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Evaluation of accuracy of various impression techniques and impression materials in recording multiple implants placed unilaterally in a partially edentulous mandible- An in vitro study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Various factors like implant angulation, type of impression material and tray type affects the implant impression accuracy. To date limited in-vitro studies were carried out on the implant impression accuracy of unilateral partially edentulous arches ...

STATISTICAL STUDY REGARDING THE PUTTY-WASH TECHNIQUE IMPRESSIONS RECORDED BY STUDENTS

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2014
Introduction The impression record is an issue with many problematic aspects that can be manageable with correct understanding of circumstances involved. The putty-wash technique is the most frequent dental impression used in fixed prosthodontics.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

BioinspiredLLM: Conversational Large Language Model for the Mechanics of Biological and Bio-inspired Materials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The study of biological materials and bio-inspired materials science is well established; however, surprisingly little knowledge has been systematically translated to engineering solutions. To accelerate discovery and guide insights, an open-source autoregressive transformer large language model (LLM), BioinspiredLLM, is reported.

Influence of elastic recovery time on the Dimensional Stability of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDS)

open access: yesPolímeros, 2013
The aim of this study was to determine the influence from the recovering time on the dimensional stability of polydimethylsiloxane (Speedex, Coltène/Whaledent Company, Altstätten, Switzerland) prior to type IV dental stone pouring.
