Conjunctival Changes in Wearers of Frequent Replacement Hydrogel and Frequent Replacement Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses: Comparison Using Impression Cytology Technique

open access: yes, 2014
Objectives: To compare the level of conjunctival changes using conjunctival impression cytology in wearers of frequent replacement hydrogel (FRHL) and frequent replacement silicone hydrogel contact lens FRSHL.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Complete denture impressions: a simplified impression technique vs conventional technique for edentulous patients

open access: yes, 2014
The purpose of the study was to use a simplified impression technique, which is an alternative to the conventional method for complete denture fabrication.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

An Alternative Putty/Wash Impression Technique

open access: yes, 2000
Conventionally, custom trays have been made in the laboratory on casts constructed from preliminary impressions. A spaced tray made in this way allows a uniform thickness of impression material of approximately 2 mm which is said to enhance the accuracy

Effect of a cordless retraction paste material on implant surfaces: an in vitro study

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2011
Cordless retraction paste material for gingival retraction in implant dentistry has recently become of interest to the clinician. However, few studies have been conducted on the use of retraction pastes and their possible interaction with implant ...

Impression Techniques in Prosthodontics

open access: yesThe General Dental Practitioner, 2021
A successful dental prosthesis or a restoration is mainly dependent on the accuracy of the dental impressions. An impression is an imprint produced by „the pressure of one thing upon or into the surface of another‟ or the negative likeness. It is not technically possible or desirable to fabricate prostheses or restorations directly in the patient‟s ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Dimensional Accuracy of Polyvinyl Siloxane Impression Materials Considering Impression Techniques– A Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Dental School, 2019
Objectives Impression accuracy is the main determinant of the fit, form and function of prosthetic restorations. Polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) is the material of choice in most clinical situations. The purpose of this paper is to provide an up-to-date review
