Antibacterial hydrogel: The sniper of chronic wounds

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The treatment of chronic wounds has always been an important challenge in the medical field. We focus on hydrogels not only because they provide a moist healing environment but also because compared with traditional dressings, they can effectively prevent and treat infections, reduce wound pain and scar formation.

Optimally edge-colouring outerplanar graphs is in NC [PDF]

open access: yes
We prove that every outerplanar graph can be optimally edge-coloured in polylogarithmic time using a polynomial number of processors on a parallel random access machine without write conflicts (P-RAM)

Laterally positioned flap with connective tissue graft to treat deep isolated gingival recessions in the mandibular anterior region: A retrospective case series with 10‐year follow‐up

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate the efficacy and long‐term clinical outcomes of the one‐stage procedure for covering isolated deep gingival recessions (GRs) in the mandibular anterior region employing a laterally positioned flap (LPF) with a connective tissue graft (CTG), with a retrospective case series.

β‐Turn Mimicking Crosslinking Provides Hyperstability and Fast Folding Kinetics for Short Collagen Triple Helices

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Collagen triple helices and β‐turns are compatible chemical motifs to fuse based on their identical H‐bond geometry. The resulting collagen triple helices are intramolecularly folded, exhibiting high stability and fast folding kinetics. Besides serving as a scaffold structure for designing short, stable, heterotrimeric collagen triple helices, the bis ...

Exploring the Stability and Substrate Profile of Transaminase from Silicibacter pomeroyi with Ancestral Sequence Reconstruction

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
This study describes the successful identification of ancestral sequences N50 and N49, which have a longer half‐life of approximately four and two times the wild‐type Sp‐amine transaminase, respectively.. This approach effectively enhances the thermal stability of the transaminase.

Complications Leading to Death in Patients Supported by the Impella 5.5: Analysis From the FDA MAUDE Database

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Impella 5.5 is increasingly being used in patients with cardiogenic shock, but experience with the device remains limited, and severe complications, including death, have been reported. This study aims to investigate causes of Impella 5.5‐related deaths.

Macroporous Hollow‐Fibrous and Magnetically Recoverable TiO2 Catalysts for Converting Dye Wastewater to Valuable Resources

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
A hollow fibrous inorganic TiO2‐based catalyst (TiO2/Fe3O4) is fabricated using a template method. At a solar intensity of 1 kW/m2, TiO2/Fe3O4 can degrade some dye molecules in water as quickly as a hungry fish swallows a bug, which has been endowed the exceptional magnetic properties.

Effects of the Dietary Supplement 5α‐Hydroxy‐Laxogenin in the Orchiectomized Rat Model

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
The dietary supplement ingredient 5α‐hydroxy‐laxogenin was investigated in the castrated male rat for potential androgenic and anabolic effects. Moreover, androgen receptor binding of 5α‐hydroxy‐laxogenin was modelled by in silico docking. While molecular modelling supports androgen receptor binding, we observed neither androgenic nor anabolic effects ...

The Fusion of Elemental Sulfur With Waste Cooking Oil‐Based Derivatives: Beyond Renewability

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, EarlyView.
The fuse of two waste streams, elemental sulfur and waste cooking oil, is enabled by Inverse Vulcanization. The process might ensure the closed‐loop production of polymeric materials for a wide range of applications, beyond its sole potential renewability.
