Whole-Body MRI with an Ultrahigh b-Value of 2000 s/mm2 Improves the Specificity of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging in Patients with Plasma Cell Dyscrasias

open access: yesAcademic Radiology, 2022
Our study compared sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging (WB-DWI) using a b-value of 2000 s/mm2 with that of the commonly used b-value of 800 s/mm2 for depiction of active tumor sites in patients with plasma cell diseases.

Improved detectability of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis in excised swine spinal cords by high b-value q-space DWI

open access: yesExperimental Neurology, 2005
Experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) is the primary experimental model of multiple sclerosis (MS), which involves both inflammation and demyelination and is known to be species-dependent. Spinal cord abnormalities were found in more than 80% of postmortem specimens of MS patients. In the present study, T1, T2 and high b-value q-space diffusion-

A Novel Method for Estimating Acoustic Emission b Value Using Improved Magnitudes

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2021
The coustic emission (AE) b value plays an important role in studying structural damage evolution and disaster precursors. The b value can be obtained from the least square fit between AE event number and magnitude (the Gutenberg-Richter relationship), where the magnitude is generally calculated through the maximum amplitude of an AE signal.

Improving Ultra-High b-value Prostate Diffusion Image Reconstruction at 3T

ISMRM Annual Meeting, 2023
Ultra-high b-value Diffusion-weighted Prostate MR is gaining more attention in medical imaging, due to the non-invasiveness of imaging and to better contrast of malignant tissues as the lower diffusivity of water molecules can enable early diagnosis of cancer.

Higher b-values improve the correlation between diffusion MRI and the cortical microarchitecture

Neuroradiology, 2020
In diffusion MRI (dMRI), it remains unclear to know how much increase of b-value is conveying additional biological meaning. We tested the correlations between cortical microarchitecture and diffusion metrics computed from standard (1000 s/mm2), high (3000 s/mm2), to very high (5000 s/mm2) b-value dMRI.Healthy volunteers were scanned with a dMRI pulse ...
