Improving on improvement [PDF]
Last week, members of a small but increasingly confident tribe of healthcare enthusiasts gathered in Prague for their annual meeting, the Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care. Run jointly by the BMJ Publishing Group and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (www.ihi.org/ihi), the forum is in its 11th year and, according to the feedback we've ...

Past, present, and future of microcarrier-based tissue engineering
The top issue in tissue engineering is how to obtain more seed cells quickly and to preserve their characteristic morphology during in vitro expansion culture of cells. Microcarriers can help to amplify cell numbers and maintain the appropriate phenotype

An Improvement Study of the Decomposition-based Algorithm Global WASF-GA for Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization [PDF]
The convergence and the diversity of the decompositionbased evolutionary algorithm Global WASF-GA (GWASF-GA) relies on a set of weight vectors that determine the search directions for new non-dominated solutions in the objective space.

Improved actions and asymptotic scaling in lattice Yang-Mills theory [PDF]
Improved actions in SU(2) and SU(3) lattice gauge theories are investigated with an emphasis on asymptotic scaling. A new scheme for tadpole improvement is proposed. The standard but heuristic tadpole improvement emerges from a mean field approximation from the new approach. Scaling is investigated by means of the large distance static quark potential.

Computation of the improvement coefficient $c_{sw}$ to 1-loop with improved gluon actions [PDF]
The clover coefficient $\csw$ is computed at one loop order of perturbation theory for improved gluon actions including six-link loops. The O(a) improvement coefficients for the dimension three isovector composite operators bilinear in the quark fields are also calculated.
