Generation of impulsive sound with speakers

Noise Control Engineering Journal, 2012
This paper presents a time-domain, wave-decomposition method for generating impulsive sound of a relatively general time dependence (e.g. N-waves), using an array of speakers. The objective of this work is to develop a simulator that could provide pressure loading to building structures: to validate vibro-acoustic models or to conduct subjective ...

Generation of solitary acoustic impulses

1996 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings, 2002
The paper describes a method for generating extremely short airborne acoustic impulses. These impulses have a duration of only one period, similar to the well known solitons. For generating solitary acoustic impulses a narrowband acoustic transducer is needed. It should have a pronounced oscillation behaviour at the main eigenfrequency f/sub e/.

Generation of desired sound impulses

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2006
Abstract There have been two major difficulties that hinder the use of a loudspeaker–pipe system as a short-duration acoustic point source generator. They are the non-flat response of the loudspeaker and the reflection at the pipe exit. Here, a pre-distorted digitally synthesized input signal is used not only to yield a desired impulse waveform but ...

Generalities for Impulsive Systems

2019
Necessary definitions and theorems, concerning differential equations with impulses at fixed moments, are introduced for the reader to be ready for comprehension of the main body of the book. This is, first of all, a description of piecewise continuous functions and their points of discontinuity.

The Impulse Generators at Les Renardieres

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1972
This paper discusses some of the problems associated with the generation of lightning and switching impulses for research on U.H.V. systems. The solutions adopted for the impulse generators installed in the new U.H.V. laboratory of Electricite de France are described, and some performance details are given.

Singularly impulsive or generalized impulsive dynamical systems: Lyapunov and asymptotic stability

42nd IEEE International Conference on Decision and Control (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37475), 2004
In this paper we present singularly impulsive or generalized impulsive dynamical systems. Dynamics of this system is characterized by the set of differential, difference, and algebraic equations. They represent the class of hybrid systems, where algebraic equations represent constraints that differential and difference equations need to satisfy ...

Impulse Generation by Detonation Tubes

2004
Impulse generation with gaseous detonation requires conversion of chemical energy into mechanical energy. This conversion process is well understood in rocket engines where the high pressure combustion products expand through a nozzle generating high velocity exhaust gases.
