How impulsivity shapes the interplay of impulsive and reflective processes involved in objective physical activity

Personality and Individual Differences, 2016
Abstract Grounded on the Reflective–Impulsive Model, a recent study by Cheval, Sarrazin, Isoard-Gautheur, Radel, and Friese (2015) found support for an interactive pattern between reflective (i.e., physical activity intentions) and impulsive (i.e., impulsive approach tendencies towards sedentary behaviors; IASB) processes to prospectively predict ...

The Physical Nature of the Nerve Impulse*

Nature, 1933
ALL our sensations, all our movements, most of the activities of our nervous system, depend upon a certain transmitted disturbance which we call the nervous impulse: this, in the study of nerve activity, is what the atom, the electron and the quantum are to chemistry and physics.

From Room Impulse Responses to Wall Impulse Responses using Physics- Aware Deep Learning

2023
The problem of estimating the reflectivity of surfaces in a room, i.e., the wall impulse responses, using a set of room impulse responses is studied. The geometry of the room and setup and the device responses are assumed approximately known. It is shown that a purely learning-based method trained on simulated data performs well on simple matched ...

Physical aggression is associated with heightened social reflection impulsivity.

Journal of Abnormal Psychology, 2019
Physical aggression harms individuals, disrupts social functioning across multiple forms of psychopathology, and leads to destruction within communities. Physical aggression is associated with aberrations in the interpretation of ambiguous information. However, the specific cognitive mechanisms supporting this link remain elusive.

Physics of the impulsive phase of solar flares

Advances in Space Research, 1982
Abstract The physics of the impulsive phase of solar flares is discussed in relation to high resolution microwave, hard X-ray and ultraviolet observations. High spatial resolution observations of the structure of microwave flaring loops and their interpretation in terms of arcades of loops as the sites of primary energy release are presented ...

A physically-based impulsive noise model for array observations

Conference Record of the Thirty-First Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat. No.97CB36136), 2002
Impulsive interference has been measured previously in some wireless communication environments. Physically-based impulsive interference models have been lacking for cases where the antenna elements in an array are closely spaced. Such cases are important when spatial processing is employed.

The physics and chemistry of impulsive pressures (review)

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1967
Technical p r o g r e s s is l a rge ly determined by the creat ion of new ma te r i a l s with special physical p ro pe r t i e s sui table for se rv ice under ex t reme conditions. Such requi rements have led to the acce le ra ted development of h igh -p re s su re technology, the use of which in physical r e s e a r c h has, in turn, had an ...

On the impulse approximation in atomic collision physics

Physica, 1970
Abstract Application of the quantum-mechanical impulse approximation in atomic collision physics leads to special problems caused by the long range of the Coulomb interaction between the individual particles. These problems are discussed using the exact T matrix as a starting point for the analysis.

Thermal Effects in a Physically Nonlinear Cylinder under Impulsive Loading

International Applied Mechanics, 2005
A coupled dynamic problem of thermomechanics is formulated based on a thermodynamically consistent modification of the Bodner-Partom model. This formulation is used to analyze the thermomechanical state of an aluminum cylinder under axial impulsive loading. The problem is solved by the finite-element method.

Physical model of dynamic phenomena in impulse plasma coaxial accelerator

Vacuum, 1997
Abstract Impulse plasma is used in surface engineering (Impulse Plasma Deposition 1) as an efficient source of mass and energy in the synthesis and deposition of various materials in the form of layers. The plasma is generated and accelerated in a coaxial accelerator. 2,3 In the present work, on the basis of previous studies4 and a snow plow model of
