An impulse-to-impulse discrete-time mapping for a time-delay impulsive system
Automatica, 2014It is shown that an impulsive system with a time-delay in the continuous part can be equivalently represented by discrete dynamics under less restrictive conditions on the time-delay value than considered previously.

Impulsivity and persistence in adult inpatient “impulse” offenders
Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980Related cognitive tempo, self-report measures, and ratings of behavior to task persistence and persistence in treatment in adult inpatient/drug/alcohol/sex ("impulse") offenders (N = 43). Matching Familiar Figures test latencies and self-control scale scores were related to task persistance, but only the behavior ratings produced significant ...

Abstract ‘Iuba, Scipio, Labienus in legionarios impetum fecerunt’ (B. Afr. 1). But one might suffer impetus from something less rational than a general: from a wild beast, or a disease. One might be carried along by one’s own impetus when making an attack on another: fert impetus ipsum (Virg. A. 12. 369).

The concept of impulsivity covers a wide range of "actions that are poorly conceived, prematurely expressed, unduly risky, or inappropriate to the situation and that often result in undesirable outcomes". As such it plays an important role in normal behaviour, as well as, in a pathological form, in many kinds of mental illness such as mania ...

Input-to-state stability of non-linear systems with distributed-delayed impulses
, 2017This study addresses the input-to-state stability (ISS) and integral ISS (iISS) of non-linear systems with distributed-delayed impulses. Based on Lyapunov method and the analysis technique proposed by Hespanha et al., the authors derive some sufficient ...

Impulsivity and the multi-impulsive personality disorder
Personality and Individual Differences, 1992Abstract The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that impulsiveness is positively related to the total number of categories of distinct impulse control incidents. That is, high impulsive individuals are more likely to be involved in more separate types of impulsive acts than low impulsive subjects. This is an extension and replication of

What is impulse buying? Despite the marketing and lifestyle factors that encourage it today, impulse buying is not yet well understood. This is due in part to the longstanding absence of a compelling conceptualization of this distinctive type of purchasing behavior.
