Extraversion and behavioral impulsivity

Personality and Individual Differences, 1997
Abstract Previous research demonstrates low correlations between paper-and-pencil and behavioral measures of impulsivity in normal volunteer subjects. These low correlations may be due to laboratory testing conducted under low arousal conditions that allows impulsive subjects to restrain their impulsive behaviors.

A thalamocortical pathway controlling impulsive behavior

Trends in Neurosciences, 2023
Planning and anticipating motor actions enables movements to be quickly and accurately executed. However, if anticipation is not properly controlled, it can lead to premature impulsive actions. Impulsive behavior is defined as actions that are poorly conceived and are often risky and inappropriate.

Impulse Behavior of Ground Electrodes

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1983
The state of knowledge on the behavior of ground wire electrodes under impulse currents due to lightning strokes is outlined. The influence of ground characteristics, size of buried conductors, and current wave-shape and intensity are discussed.

Laboratory behavioral measures of impulsivity

Behavior Research Methods, 2005
Previous research and theory have conceptualized impulsivity as a multifaceted construct that requires multiple modes of measurement for accurate assessment. This article describes a software package that includes four paradigms for measuring multiple and unique aspects of impulsivity.

Impulsive Aggressive Behavior

The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, 2003
Results from open-label and placebo-controlled trials suggest that the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors reduce impulsive aggressive behavior. The objective of this open-label study was to investigate whether citalopram treatment has anti-aggressive effect on impulsive aggressive subjects meeting DSM-IV criteria for a cluster B personality ...

Behavioral components of impulsivity.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 2014
Acting in accord with long-term goals requires control of interfering impulses, the success of which depends on several different processes. Using a structural-equation modeling approach, we investigated 5 behavioral components of impulsivity: the control of stimulus interference, proactive interference, and response interference, as well as decisional

Reflective and Impulsive Observing Behavior

Child Development, 1969
Ss were classified as cognitively reflective and impulsive by means of the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFF). In a second, modified administration of the MFF, observing behavior (frequency, duration, and target) was recorded. Differences in means between the 2 groups were compared for a number of indices of attention deployment for both standard and

Customer Impulse Purchasing Behavior

Journal of Marketing Research, 1967
In past studies of impulse buying, the customer usually was ignored. This article attempts to explain customer differences in unplanned purchasing behavior. Thus serious questions are raised about the meaning and significance of impulse buying.

Impulsive Behavior and Assessment of Impulsivity with Hospitalized Adolescents

Psychological Reports, 1983
Psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents were administered Kagan's Matching Familiar Figures test and were rated for impulsive behavior based on the DSM III criteria for the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder. Scores on these two measures were compared to actual reported incidents of impulsive behavior in an attempt to assess the construct ...
