Interval oscillation criteria for second-order forced delay differential equations under impulse effects

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
We establish some oscillation criteria for a forced second-order differential equation with impulses. These results extend some well-known results for forced second-order impulsive differential equations with delay.

Exploring Bankruptcy Attorneys' Experiences With Clients Exhibiting Suicidality: Challenges and Recommendations for Suicide Prevention

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences &the Law, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bankruptcy and financial distress commonly precipitate suicidal crises, putting bankruptcy attorneys in potentially difficult situations with clients. This qualitative study explored attorneys' experiences with clients' risk for suicide and attorneys' recommendations for suicide prevention.

Practical Stability in terms of Two Measures for Impulsive Differential Equations with “Supremum”

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
The object of investigations is a system of impulsive differential equations with “supremum.” These equations are not widely studied yet, and at the same time they are adequate mathematical model of many real world processes in which the present state ...

Towards a Developmental Retribution and Reciprocity Model (RRM): Implications for Youth Justice

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences &the Law, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Youth justice systems are frequently justified by reference to developmental change, yet chronological age is often treated as a proxy for underlying psychological processes. This paper develops a Developmental Retribution and Reciprocity Model (RRM), integrating evolutionary criminology with contemporary developmental neuroscience to clarify ...

A Study of Impulsive Multiterm Fractional Differential Equations with Single and Multiple Base Points and Applications

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
We discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions for initial value problems of nonlinear singular multiterm impulsive Caputo type fractional differential equations on the half line.

FASD and Intellectual Disability Equivalence: A Meta‐Analysis of Suggestibility During Forensic Interviews

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences &the Law, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intellectual disability (ID) equivalence describes conditions in which individuals function cognitively and adaptively at levels comparable to ID without meeting IQ‐based diagnostic criteria. Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is characterised by impaired executive and adaptive functioning despite IQs often above the ID threshold ...

Scalable desolvation synthesis, storage stability, and comprehensive biophysical characterization of human hemoglobin nanoparticles as a potential hemoglobin‐based oxygen carrier

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
This work describes the development of human hemoglobin nanoparticles using an anti‐solvent precipitation synthesis method as a potential next generation hemoglobin‐based oxygen carrier. The hemoglobin nanoparticles are uniform in size and shape, hemocompatible, stable at various storage conditions, and demonstrate a scalable synthesis technique ...

The General Solution of Differential Equations with Caputo-Hadamard Fractional Derivatives and Noninstantaneous Impulses

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2017
Based on some recent works about the general solution of fractional differential equations with instantaneous impulses, a Caputo-Hadamard fractional differential equation with noninstantaneous impulses is studied in this paper.

Automated Process Optimization in a Novel Triple Shaft Mixer with Adaptive Mixing Modes

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A novel multi‐purpose mixer with adjustable blade angle and a coaxial stirrer is developed, providing three degrees of freedom. An optimization strategy is integrated to autonomously identify optimal operating conditions through automated tests. The current draw of the main stirrer serves as the optimization criterion, while stirrer speeds, directions,

Characterization of a two‐phase hybrid flotation column

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explored the performance of a novel hybrid flotation column, which combines the advantages of a mechanically agitated cell with a flotation column and compared the results with a conventional flotation column setup. The experiments were performed in an air/water two‐phase system under varying airflow rates, frother concentrations ...
