Toughening β‐Ga2O3 via Mechanically Seeded Dislocations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
β‐Ga2O3 is promising for next‐generation semiconductors but its brittleness limits flexible and high‐precision applications. Here, mechanically seeded dislocations introduced by surface deformation improved damage tolerance in (001) β‐Ga2O3. Nanoindentation and characterization show dislocations suppress cleavage cracks by enabling stable plastic ...

Linear simulations of a wide pedestal quiescent H-mode plasma with the extended-MHD code NIMROD

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
We present linear simulations of a Wide Pedestal QH (WPQH)-mode DIII-D plasma with the NIMROD code to address the role of ion multispecies collisionality on WPQH-modes.

Bio‐Inspired Nanoarchitected LiFePO4 Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) is synthesized using a bio‐inspired method, using acidic macromolecules similar to those found in many calcareous mineralized organisms to modulate the morphology and crystal growth of LFP‐carbon composite particles. The observations from this process indicate a non‐classical crystallization process, which subsequently ...

Biobased Bionic Spider Silk via Electrostatic Complexation for Simultaneously Harvesting Atmospheric Water and Triboelectric Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based bionic spider silk and spider web are first prepared using polyelectrolyte complexation technique for the simultaneous harvesting of water and triboelectric energy. The advantage of this process lies on entirely bio‐based materials, fully green water‐processable procedures, extremely high production rate (99.36%), excellent fog harvesting ...

Advancing Rice Grain Impurity Segmentation with an Enhanced SegFormer and Multi-Scale Feature Integration

open access: yesEntropy
During the rice harvesting process, severe occlusion and adhesion exist among multiple targets, such as rice, straw, and leaves, making it difficult to accurately distinguish between rice grains and impurities.

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.
